GGG won the WBC interim title back in 2014 (vs Rubio) and was mandatory since then! He waited 2 years and both Cotto and Canelo knew MONTHS before even their fight that the winner will HAVE TO FACE GGG next.

The WBC has STRONG ties to the Chavez family. They've tried to tarnish Canelo little by little. If you're not Mexican or from Mexico you won't understand. They said F you to Canelo so now Canelo is saying F you to them.

As long as the fight happens, I don't really care as the wbc is as crooked as they come. BUT, Canelo didn't seem to care about their crooked ways when they let him win his first title at 154 in a catch weight fight vs an unranked welterweight. Which allowed him to break Fernando vargas well deserved record of being the youngest 154 pound champion. Also, Canelo and Oscar said cotto was disrespecting boxing when he dropped the wbc belt before their fight. Guess they changed their minds.
