I do understand what you're saying, but I think the distinction between saying you are a "better Mexican" and saying you are a "better representative of Mexico" is subtle and not quite as profound as you suggest.

As to who is a better representative of the Mexican people between Canelo and Chavez...I can't exactly weigh into that with any credibility (though I generally have more respect for people who get where they are through their own hard work, rather than by virtue of their bloodline).

True, my whole original point is that no one boxer ever said anything about being a better Mexican...

BTW, you gonna keep covering your eyes every time someone posts an example?
Good post. I see exactly what you mean, it isnt just Canelo-Chavez either, its a lot of mexican fighters. Its actually a bit annoying and lots of their fights involve countries and other political **** that has nothing to do with the fight. Whoever doesnt see that is an imbecile

He had to keep to the 155 narrative against Khan. If hed appeared at 160 against Khan how could he then insist on 155 against GGG. Brook was a stand in. For Eubank, an actual middleweight. Brook had actually fought at 154 before, and hadn't been knocked out as a lightwelter more than once. Of course, I'm talking about him dropping he's belt after offering to fight Golovkin after knocking little Amir out right then and there. So it looked a bit silly. He still gave the belt away, regardless of anything else. I remember Golovkin himself saying Andre was too big for him. I remember Canelo saying weight don't matter and I don't f about. I'll fight you right now with no gloves on. Spin it how you like, GGG didn't drop a belt to duck Ward.

I recall Erik Morales saying that about Barrera.

Industry knows Mexican boxing is a symbiosis in revenue for the sport. The Brits and HBO talk more of Mexican referencing than Showtime or PBC. Ironic much?

Most articles regarding such drama is to help sell the fight to casuals, not for the analyticals. I mean there are two guys running through Trump's wall... the Mexicans get it, the Japanese would, and so do the Brits.

This fight is great for the sport. Almost every comment on this thread acknowledges the state of boxing, especially with Joshua and Klitschko ending, this fight seems to be owned by stateside standards in general, hence Vegas...

Going back to PBC... that's a different conversation. When we want to have an objective conversation as to helping a more American platform, rogue industry just shut down the "black hitler."

Speaking of which, im gonna bump my other thread

It's a foreign concept to me. I can't imagine two Americans arguing over who is more American (unless it's the GOP primaries).
i'm mexican, but i have to say something here.
Racism is real in America, and literally people fight everydau because whites believe they're more american than other citizens that don't share their skin color or nationality. That's on a day to day basis.

So i don't agree with your comment or please enlighten me.

It's not an opinion to agree or disagree with, it's something I (and many others judging by the posts here) have observed over the years. Things such as Chavez Sr being favored as a true Mexican. Barrera mocking Morales for being from TJ so he's less respectable as a Mexican. Jr telling Canelo that the Mexican people love him more. It's hard to imagine someone not noticing any of that over the years in Mex vs Mex battles. Especially someone who comes to the forum here because I see fans engaging in it all the time.

I didn't make any reference to racism so I don't know where you were coming from with that but you might have misunderstood what I was saying.

I understand all that, we all know the past... but I also understand why Canelo did what he did and it wasn't because he fears bbb. Millions of reasons to do what he did. MILLIONS
