What Tiger did was pretty amazing. He took a largely boring as all get out sport to watch mostly played by old white guys in ****** pants and made it hip and trendy and made it so mainstream America cared about it on Sportscenter. Like teenagers took up golf because of him. Now that he sucks, golf has been sent back to the country clubs where it belongs.

Boxing is a far more exciting platform than golf is. AJ could be bigger than Tiger..

So Joshua went life and death with a 41 year old past his prime Klitschko. Now he's the heavyweight savior. Get outta here with that.

This old man and his son sees Joshua and they start seeing the limitless amount of pounds signs that is coming their way. You hope after Saturday's event he starts to understand his worth. He needs to start requesting percentages of everything from tickets, merchandise, concession etc rather than just settling for a flat fee check from this Father/son duo. It is his show at this point.

I love comments/articles like this. Not because I believe that it's true but because so many people came out and dumped all over Joshua as soon as he won. It's fun to see negative people get their buttons poked.

I might even take that bet, but that doesn't really mean he's not sh^t all of a sudden. The division is in a transitional period with the Klitschko era at its end. We got 5 undefeated guys in the top ten that all have some % of the fans thinking they are the guy (Joshua, Wilder, Ortiz, Parker & my mfing man Fury). This is actually a very compelling time in the division with many potential exciting fights that Joshua very well come up short in.

In fairness, & I'm a big Floyd fan as a Grand Rapids, MI native myself, was never a big endorsing of products. Floyd got all his money, or nearly all of it, in the ring. Joshua is very likely to make a good percentage of his income in future years from endorsing products & being the face of specific brands vs in the ring. I'd even suggest its possible he could make more money outside the ring then in it. Lets not forget til Floyd got all that Manny money the most highly paid boxer of all time was a guy who made most of his money from selling a f#cking grill.

I call bs on this. The last thing a brand wants is a cat like Adrien Broner or Floyd. You want a guy who isn't saying f#ck in every other sentence or who's not at risk every weekend for getting into some sorta DUI situation or having a sextape released or other nightmare situations athletes tend to find themselves in. A brand wants a guy who is boring outside of his sport I'd contend.

I personally got Fury, sh^t together version Fury that is, over Joshua, but Joshua isn't getting forgotten about any time soon after the Klitschko fight. Hearn is too good at his job + Joshua showed too much intelligence & heart to get forgotten about.

Well the higher you're goal the more likely you fail at your goal that goes without saying. I'd bet against Joshua being some sort of boxing version of Tiger Woods myself, but that doesn't mean its impossible or that he's looking like a guy capable of extremely mainstream success that could reach Tiger Woods type heights or close to it in theory. In theory is much easily to analyze & achieve then the actual trajectory of getting to that goal is. There are a million things that could f#ck up that plan along the way & probably will.
Starting to notice that a fair amount of the reasonable boxing opinions on these threads are coming from guys with ties to Michigan (Detroiter myself). Guess it's the rich boxing history

But you wildin with Fury lol I'm not buying his brand at all

Not sure if you're from the UK, but they disclose PPV revenue breakdowns in the press over there. (See the Froch v. Groves revenue in daily mail) In the end Joshua will grab ~$20 million (or 15 million pounds). (I think Wladimir will earn around the same amount).

When you factor in the less expensive tickets and PPV costs (the prices are much much cheaper; I believe due to regulation. I think the average PPV price is like $20). His take isn't that bad.

I get "owning the brand" but that idea may be disconnected from the reality of the economics in this case. He's only had 19 fights. Once they release the info to the press, we'll know soon.

He'll learn the business side as he matures.

Yea Michigan gots a lot of knowledgable, respectful boxing fans there in my experience.

Randomly I miss going to fights there & specifically the Michigan Golden Gloves. I keep thinking of going back one year to watch the MI GG's but so far haven't. Some good movement in Michigan lately too. Think Scott Buck (ex-journeyman boxer) gots a nice lil team brewing. You listen to the Podcast Detroit Undercard show by any chance?

LOL in fairness I'm not saying Fury could sell anything except maybe some pill for bipolar disorders, but I think he's the highest ring IQ cat in the division & I just can't see him losing to anyone at HW....if he gots it all together. The problem as a Fury fan is idk if he can get it all together for very long even when he does get it all together.

Certainly not from the UK but am sure you guys have more disclosure over there than this side of the water. Am not necessarily referring to this fight but then again no one sells out arena in their 17, 18 or 19th fight so with Joshua, you definitely know there is something brewing in the water for him and his earning potential is enormous. Just saying that he needs to have a good management team that will help him take control of his brand as he does this massive numbers rather than just settling for flat fees as most promoters will rather you do.

Tiger Woods: Young, hip, excellent golfer, brought in a slew of fans that were never interested in golf.

Anthony Joshua: Big guy that knocks people out.

                      Yeah, I see the comparison.
