  • Wow. Great fight. Ended as I said it would, just way later. Here's a few thoughts on the fight.

    1) Klitscko is an atg and just proved it once again. To put it into perspective: This would have been like Ali almost beating Holmes in their fight.......if Ali was like 5 years older! Ali was an absolute shell and retired at 41. Wlad is not shot but has lost his reflexes and it's obvious, but once again the power was still pretty much there. There were several landed straight rights that he landed which if he was a little younger would have closed the show. They just hit the mark a little too late. Wlad did well to survive the 5th rd and proved he has heart. People do forget that Wladimir has never finished a fight actually off his feet. He's only been stopped. #Legend

    2) Say what you want but Joshua is the goods. Yes he almost lost to a 41 year old but Wlads an atg. He's not some average 41 y/o titlist. Joshua proved not only that he can take a mean punch and recover but he proved he has championship league stamina. Everyone knew he could box and had power but this proves he has the total package.

    3) Klitschko could possibly have won anyways. He tried for the KO when Joshua got up from the straight right but just missed getting it done.

    4) I think Joshua wasn't just tired. He got caught by a short left hook in the 5th round while trying to stop WK and he was buzzed for a while.
That said, Joshua has an amazing chin and recovery ability.

    5) The stoppage had actually come after Wlad had recovered a bit. If you look at the ending sequence, you can see only one shot actually land and it was grazing.

    6) Joshua could have stopped Wlad in rd 5 but made a mistake trying to stay on Wlad too hard after the KD. He got caught and it stopped his surge cold.

    7) We're really lucky as boxing fans to get such a fight with a 14 year age gap. This rarely happens in boxing. This was classic for all the right reasons and boxing folklore of age deterioration and a young champ beating an old champ continues.

    8) Wilder, Fury and Joshua are the future and fights between any of them will sell at Wembly easy.

    9) It's official, GB runs the HW division for the first time in a long long time.

    10) Prime Wlad beats Prime Joshua easy and Vitali even as late as 2012 would have knocked Joshua out.

      • almost lost to a 41 yr old rusty fighter. lets relax a bit on the joshua hype. this fight had no business being this competitive. you're supposed to wash old guys and humiliate them like kovalev did hopkins. holmes did ali. the guy has one leg in the retirement home. AJ needs to leave that fat tub of grease Fury alone and chase after Wilder. the winner of that is the true HW king.

Exactly! Joshua didn't do himself any favors.

            • Joshua clearly the best HW in world and is fast becoming the face of boxing! This fight is only going to make him that much better... Improving with every fight and has definitely not reached his prime. Wilder reached peak against Stiverne and has regressed and looked sloppy against the cans he has fought since. Easy wrk for AJ.

                • Best meaningful heavyweight fight I've seen in I don't know how long.

                  • That uppercut in the 11th round though. That was the winning shot in my opinion. Funnily enough it happened as Wladmir was about to grab and hold his opponent. Well AJ has just showed us how to deal with that trick.

                    BOOOM

                    • The first 3 or 4 rounds were pretty painful to watch. I think Klitchsko threw 1 punch per round for the first 3 (maybe 4, I'll have to watch again) rounds.
