    Come forward fighters

I love an action packed fight as well as anyone else..but alot of fighters tend to lack skills and take punishment for no reason at all and that is why their careers do not last long. Any intelligent fighter will dissect a limited come forward fighter..If you biggest upside is your power then your career will not last long. Skills pay the bills and you have to take the least punishment as possible to survive in this game

Lomachenko is not a come-forward fighter. Kovalev is also not one. Golovkin comes forward but he times his shots and can be hard to hit when he focuses on defense.

"Come forward" fighters fight to their strengths. No fighters are choosing to get hit in the face.

Some guys choose to push the fight because they can't simply outbox their opponent who might be more skilled, and it's their only shot at winning the fight.

        ^^ well said.

I've never understood the concept of criticizing fighters' styles, like 'why does this guy move so much?' or 'why doesn't he use more defence', like wtf? This isn't a video game, you don't just press a button and do whatever you want. People are blessed with different talents, for example, to the average internet warrior, something like having a good jab may seem like a straight-forward skill every fighter should have, but the amount of talent and practice it takes to develop a good, consistent jab is often overlooked.

It's about making the most of your gifts, whatever you've got, whether it be power, speed, reflexes, timing etc. For me it's what a fighter does with his skills, what he achieves in the ring, rather than what his style actually is. That's what I like fighters based on. I don't care if you're a spoiler, pure boxer, pressure fighter, if you're good at what you do, of course that's what you're gonna stick to. That's the problem with boxing fans, they don't appreciate all forms of the art.

I'll take a flawed fighter with lots of heart and desire over some skilled guy who thinks hes the best.

Joshua's a come forward fighter. Klitschko may be too old now for him (then again maybe not...we will see)...but who would you have picked between the the 2007 Klitschko vs 2017 Joshua?

Boxing is a brutal game and it's easy to see the effects of a boxer whose taken to many shots to the head in his career. Looking at fights nominated for FOTY, or rounds mentioned for ROTY, it's obvious that they almost always involve lots of exchanges between two guys who are willing to come forward and exchange. These fights can involved highly skilled boxers with defensive skills but if a fighter is willing to let his hands go, chances are something's coming back.
Defensive fighters who are economical with their punches and who keep their hands at home are rarely in exciting fights but are able to speak in complete sentences when they walk away.
