Off topic but this is why people get upset when Floyd calls himself the best ever.

In reality it will mean little, obviously, but for Lomachenko it just looks good on paper to have avenged the L.

          Nothing more.

Crazy talk... avenging your only lost is Important especially if your trying to be p4p #1, you never know salido might end up been that thorn kind of like what Marquez is to Pacquiao.

Someone actually posted Salido's record and how it evolved from his early career when he was the textbook definition of a journeyman. Like you posted later in this thread though. You have to take his career in context. The guy by his own admission never really took boxing seriously until after the Marquez fight.

As to the rematch. Legacy wise it is huge. Avenging losses is a big deal when a fighters career gets evaluated. If Robinson does'nt avenge his losses to Lamotta, Turpin, Basilio and Fulmer, is he considered the best today? I seriously doubt it. Does Roy's legacy take a hit if he does'nt avenge his L to Griffin? I believe it does. People remember if you avenged a loss, most could give a **** less if the guy was past his prime when you did it.

Salido is kind of like Glen Johnson. Yes he's a journeyman, but he rarely gets schooled. He's usually in tough bouts and is definitely a grinder.

Respect to those guys who are truly similar to us in the fact that they work for what they get without being otherworldly strong, fast, tough, or skilled

Well in Salido's defense, he should of got the decision in his past 2 fights which he was awarded a draw. His last fight he beat up Vargas and arguably ruined him along with Miura.

You bring up the 13 losses. 8 of those were when he was 21 or younger. A few of them before he was a legal adult. He didn't have amateur experience or some high profile promoter protecting him. He worked his way up the hard way and has beaten some good fighters and hung in there with some great fighters. Salido is a very good fighter.
