Arum for sure gots a track record, but has he even built a "major star" like he's saying he'll make Stevenson in 5 years besides Oscar who was damn near a star before turning pro?
if I recall he turned pac into a major star pretty quick. conlan has a much better chance to be a major star in five years he has the irish and mcGregor support behind him.

Manny was 6 years into his pro career before he even got with TR I think.

I'm saying from pro debut to "major star" in 5 years. Cuz that's what Arum is saying he'll do here.

I don't count Manny. Manny was already a ex-champ + several years into his pro career by the time he got with TR.

I'm saying 5 years from pro debut to "major star" like Arum is talking about. I'm not sure that's been done all that much in boxing history now that I'm thinking about it more. Certainly it doesn't happen all that often.

I thought this was an interesting column that did touch on some hard to deal with realities. Hopefully, Stevenson can just be himself and not have to adopt a villainous or arrogant persona to become a big star.

He needs to keep winning against progressively tougher competition and he will be fine.

He doesn't have enough power to become a star. Mayweather had power at the lower weights. Stevenson can't crack an egg and he's already having hand problems.

Article would've been better if they wrote about a black fighter on the cusp of stardom and if written by a black writer

Yea I can't envision that happening just based off of what I've seen of Shakur thus far. He's got that nice guy Ward vibe to him, hell he comes off nicer then Ward, so it makes sense he's with Ward.

Also its worth noting Arum has never aimed nor seems inclined to promote any of his fighters as bad guys even if Mayweather was dying to be a bad guy & Crawford's police record & dumb bs record accumulates.

There is for sure a shortage of bad guys in boxing & I'm often saying more guys should attempt to jump into that role to maximize their own financial upside in the sport in their short time in it.

Mosley was on his way to become a superstar poor foe selection after the ODLY and the lost Forrest derailed him.

He had the good guy image, good crowd pleasing smile with skills and KO power.

Also there is not saying how long will Arum last on this planet, he is around 80 years old

Isn't this one of Thomas Hauser's aliases? Of is it identity crisis Fischer with his demographic theory and fiction?

Was mentioning he was black really that necessary?
It's like that ****** label of great white hope or whatever you call it, Shakur could maybe become a big name, but it's hard to tell right now.
