Have you seen the boxing numbers lately? European boxers haven't taken over anything. You can combined GGG and Kovalev's last fights PPV numbers and they are lower than Mayweather vs Berto. And nobody considered Mayweather vs Berto a successful PPV.

I'd disagree with that. I definitely believe it helps. Mayweather, young Ali & Jack Johnson might have been the best 3 bad guys in boxing due to their perceived unbeatability + elite level of success during their prime bad guy days. But you still got guys like Mayorga (as you mentioned), Broner & Camacho who were/are successful bad guys in their own right.

There's are levels to it doe I'd agree with you there. You could probably come up with a formula showing the better you are in the ring the more you capitalize off of the bad guy image.

I actually thought this myself when I heard Arum signed "the guy who flipped off the judges at the Olympics", but after thinking about it more I honestly don't think Arum believes in the bad guy angle.

He's certainly never attempted it before that I can recall. I think a major point of Floyd leaving Arum was Arum being a non-believer in the whole "Money" Mayweather persona that eventually made Floyd into the superstar he became. And hell he probably rightfully believes it because its easier & less stressful + he's seen more successful conversion on his method of making the cardboard cutout Sugar Ray/Golden Boy De La Hoya type guy than having a guy doing things counterproductive more often than not to getting the masses behind you. Being a bad guy isn't for everyone, everyone can't sell it, but not being an a$$hole is fairly easy to accomplish.

I think that whole trend with the cardboard cutout good guy is dated & people are looking for more real & flawed "heros" these days. Good luck convincing an old timer who's seen more success than most of us could ever dream of doe so respect to Arum, but you can't teach an old dog new tricks in particular when they still do their old tricks so well.

Broner appeared to be headed to being great below 140. He was undefeated and showed good power. Now that didn't translate to 147 which is imo why his act is stale and tiresomely-@ 147 he can't back the talking up.

As for conlan, I disagree. We are in the age of Trump and Mcgregor. Besides, being a badass, rules defying white boy has always been a marketing ploy that has sold well. In this day and age it is no less popular.

Conlan also has a fan base that will never see him like anything but a hero. So when he fights no names, he will be a very strong a side in any venue in an area heavily Irish. Then he can also be the "bad guy" in Behas or Cali, especially when his fans travel and do stuff like sing during the national anthem like the hatton fans.

I don't disagree with the overall slant towards that marketing ploy & like I said in my previous post I think it'll be more popular then ever in the future, but when has Arum taken that path is the thing that has me thinking he's gonna go the way he always tries to go with both Stevenson & Conlan.

Arum's done it better than any other promoter in the business. I think Arum is more innovative in this business than he's given credit for, but I think in this regard he'll be a dance with the girl you took to the prom kinda guy. I mean he's still using the same tactics to hype Loma as he did Manny a decade ago. I think for Arum promoting his fighters is a very simple, uncomplicated process that has a step by step path that has proved profitable for his company over & over again to whatever level a fighter can achieve.

I will say I'm rooting I'm wrong cuz it'd be interesting to see how Arum would deal with Floyd or Broner like antics. I just don't see it, but we should see soon either way.

We shall see if Conlan can actually acquire that level of commitment from fans. I'm not sold on it yet, but I definitely think its possible cuz those Euro-fans are nothing if not passionate about there fighters.

Tank is going to the UK soon & I'd bet there won't be 50 people from Baltimore there watching, but if Tank was a UK guy & came to America he'd probably have a whole section of the crowd waving flags & singing "there's only one Gervonta Davis" so Conlan definitely gots something nice going for him in that regard.

Well if he wants an honest shot at being a star. He is going to have to dedicate himself 24/7 to boxing and cut out any outside distractions, I.E the heavy partying, frequent nightclubbing, drinking or drugs of any kind and just be dedicated to boxing.

If he just sacrifices the next ten years of his life to boxing and really put everything he's got into it, he can put himself into a situation where life from then on can be a vacation.

This kid has an opportunity in the next 10-15 years as long as he truly dedicates himself to boxing and cuts out all bad temptations and truly puts in hard work and true dedication to be able to be on a forever vacation from then on.

He's getting limelight out of the gate. Obviously people are gonna be talking about him. And if people are talking about you there are gonna be positive things said along with negative things said. Anyone being completely ignorant about his progress you should just ignore, but for the most part most cats who aren't ignore worthy are speaking reasonably & respectfully of him whether they agree or disagree he could become a superstar as he's being advertised & promoted as being one day.
