Best win vs Prime Fighter was Kessler
Biggest win to put him on (american) map was vs Lacy
Best wins vs legends not in prime were Eubank, Hopkins and Jones Jr.

Overall one of the greats of this era. Unfortunately due to him being very humble and not American, he probably didn't get a third of the cash he should have.

He only beat 3 fighters ranked in the top 5 so it's between lacy, Hopkins an Kessler.

Obviously it's not Lacy because he's garbage.

      Hopkins was good but controversial.

      So I'd go with Kessler.

Still all in all a garbage resume.

It was nothing to do with being European and humble.

It was a lack of ambition.

It really is a garbage resume isn't it? Lacy was wank, Kessler good win, I had Hopkins win as did I believe BBC, Yahoo and ESPN and then retired facing Jones' corpse

Calzaghe is dog ****e. I don't understand why people here big him up when his resume sucks ass.

            He definitely underachieved.

He should have moved up to LHW much earlier than 2008.

              3. I guess Hopkins even though Hopkins was way over the hill.

Those are literally his only 3 notable wins. RJJ was not a top 100 P4P fighter when they fought.

Naming Eubank shows you don't know shit. Eubank took that fight on 2 weeks notice, while he was preparing to fight at cruiserweight. Going from cruiser to SMW in 2 weeks is insane, Calzaghe fought a shell.

Undefeated Prime Kessler is a great win by anyones standards. Definitely his best win.

That said, it's easy to discredit the Lacy fight now but when that fight was signed, most people including most on here thought Lacy was a killer and would wreck Calzaghe and Calzaghe basically ruined him. I'll still say we should judge fights when the bell rings rather than hindsight and if that's the case, it's a good win.

Beating Hopkins in 2008 even in a close fight is still a good win by anyones standards too. Hopkins went on to beat the likes of Pascal and Pavlik after that fight.

That's about it for his good wins really. He has a few pretty decent wins scattered about his resume though such as Bika and past prime but tough Eubank. It's a shame the rest of his resume is pretty weak because he proved he could beat very good fighters when he fought them.

Also, Calzaghe was about 35+ when he fought the likes of Kessler. We probably never really saw the best of Calzaghe, he spent his prime beating the likes of Tocker Pudwill.

Quite odd really, retiring 46-0 and two weight world champ and still arguably underachieved. Could have been considered great but never really dared or had the desire to be great.

kessler was his best win but even that win wasnt too convincing.

Calzaghe was one of the most boring fighters in my eyes. That girly slapping sht and the showboats were rubbish.

I always wanted to see him get knocked out Mercer-Morrison style.

I believe it was LHW, but still, it was only 11 days notice, and he had no southpaw sparring and was unable to do roadwork due to his bad knees. To be fair though, he proved he still had a lot left in the tank. But I'd class it as a great win for Joe personally, but not for boxing in general.
