the phrase "why are americans not supporting...."

    American fighters....

The question is easily answered. Entertain the large group of people by knock outs and action and not just jab your way to victory. Show some dominance, show power and show how you impose your skill to your opponents with an intent of knocking you out or hurting the opponent instead of safely cruising a boring lack luster decision and many will love you.

A lot of people love Thurman and Porter with their exciting styles not just black or white people in general but others also like Asians.

Crawford lost some support with how he fought postol but did gain that loss because of the Molina fight where he knocked him out. People are attracted to action, this isnt racially motivated or anything and should not be viewed as.

The fact is boxing in general is in a slump.

Gennady Golovkin is everything you say people wanna see in a fighter yet nobody buys his fights. He isn't black or american. What's the excuse? Kovalev also fights the way you described and he has no real fan base. What's the excuse?

GGG hasn't bee marketed and promoted well enough, and 99.9% of his opponents are bums who don't bring any attention to the fights either. There also isn't a rich boxing culture from where he's from, so he doesn't have a country behind him like a lot of guys (i.e. Canelo) do.

Boxing is dying in the US but still very big, if not bigger than ever in the soviet bloc nations and other parts of Europe. Its still pretty big in the UK too.

The prhase "american fans dont get behind american fighters" is said by black fans on here who want black fighters to receive unequivocal support without any backlash for bad performances and ducks. Simple.

Not enough exposure obviously. The May-Pac scenario of their stardom would never reach to anyone at any point at this time, and also, the PPV model was destroyed because of such a ud fight that they had displayed. But we could clearly see that there are more fan base for Golovkin despite not really having that high profile fight that would put him to stardom. Give me another fighter that could sell as much ppv golovkin has besides Canelo and Cotto.

Crawford didn't even sell more than 60k with his fight against postol. Kovalev also doesn't get the near exposure that Golovkin has, but has a wide array of support in the fan base of white america. Lomachenko is rapidly growing.Crawford is rapidly growing, and Thurman is rapidly growing and what they have in common <<<<

LOL that's silly, but B- on the racebaiting troll post.

Whatever color your skin happens to be its easy to see American fans don't support American fighters, or more to the point boxing specifically, like they used to & like other countries do today.

Hell I'm not sure I've ever seen fans as into boxing in the US as I see them for a run of the mill UK show with far lesser names & lesser talent than US guys who barely anyone gives a f#ck about. If Thurman or Bradley were UK born & bred they'd be 2x+ more popular then they are today.

And its not so much being about woe is my country about boxing or poor whatever US fighter as just straight spitting an observation & fact. It is what it is. Its the reality of boxing & boxing fans in the US right now.

I'm talking about the use of phrase and in particular on here. I've seen that phrase used almost exclusively by black american posters on here when talking about the likes of ward or mayweather. That's just the reality of it. Call it what you want but its the truth. Sometimes, the truth stinks.

I never hear about American fans not getting behind Garcia or Guerrero etc etc

But like I said and I stress this, its mainly on this forum. I dont know what the situation is among american fans on a wider scale in the us itself.

It's really as simple as America being a big ****ing place with drastically different cultures depending on where you live. People in California are nothing like people in Wisconsin. People in Texas aren't like people in Massachusetts.

So no, "Americans" are not going to support every American fighter because we're too big a country and have too many different people.

That's because you're an unmitigated moron. It pertains to the fact on EVERY occasion Americans seem to take the foreign fighter over their own countrymen.
Here's a riddle. When is the last time an American fighter fought a foreigner and the majority of users on this site went for the American?

                    I'll give you all day.
