I don't know. Maybe more good trainers are needed. Some of those things aren't as easy to do as some might think. As an amateur boxer I had trouble making punches miss with head movement try as I might so I relied more on blocking punches than slipping punches. Not every fighter can do all things well. The great ones can but the average ones can't. There are many more average fighters than good or great ones. Knowing what you should do in the ring and actually doing it effectively are two different things.Comment

They all did learn the basics in the beginning but they started relying on their natural talent while neglecting the fundamentals. They ignore it because their natural talents allow them to get away with it.
But sooner or later, you meet an opponent who will expose that and use it against you.Comment

because very few fighters are actually taught to fight from the basics.
Most fighters come into the game with some rudimentary skills, with most coaches only knowing aspects of the fight game, leading to fighters only being taught limited skills.
If you walk into a gym as a heavy-handed 16 year old, most trainers will simply look for ways to maximize the natural punch power.
If a kid walks into a gym with fast hands, that's what will be focused on.
Very few coaches still teach boxing feet to hands (which is how you usually end up with the fighters with the ability to confidently try everything.Comment
