Interesting take on canelo's immigration heritage. I'm sure you all know most of the folks in the Americas did indeed come from elsewhere.
Meet canelo, the Irish, French Mexican!!I found this article to have an interesting take.
https://www.quora.com/What-is-Saul-%...nic-background"Hispanic" is not a racial group - it's just an ethnic label that is used to refer to people who come from Spanish-speaking countries in South, and Central America.
I suppose Brazil, to some extent may also be included despite being colonized by Portugal, and Portuguese being their native tongue.
MOST of the people we label "Hispanic" have their ancestry based in Spain, and a small amount of Amerindian blood (whatever group of Indians was native to the lands that the White Spaniards conquered back in the 1400-1500's).
Some are full-blooded Amerindian, although this is pretty rare.
Some families are actually 100% European. Most are prolly like 60/40, or 75/25 European Spanish.
There are small amounts of other Southern (and even Northern) European ancestry as well.
Canelo is probably pretty close too being 100% White-Spaniard. Red-hair is found all around Northern Spain.
If Canelo took a DNA test, he'd most likely find out 90+% of his ancestry is White/European.
For all intents and purposely, racially, Canelo is just as White as your average American with heritage mainly from Northern European countries.
Yes - Canelo is a White man. DEAL WITH IT.
"Recent research into Irish DNA at the beginning of the twenty-first century suggests that the early inhabitants of Ireland were not directly descended from the Keltoi of central Europe. Genome sequencing performed on remains of early settlers in Ireland by researchers at Trinity University in Dublin and Queens University has revealed at least two waves of migration to the island in past millennia. Analysis of the remains of a 5,200 year-old Irish farmer suggested that the population of Ireland at that time was closely genetically related to the modern-day populations of southern Europe, especially Spain and Sardinia."

Also, the Irish, Welsh and Scots all speak varieties of the Gaelic language which is thought to have originated in the ancient kingdom of Galicia, in Spain.
Imo, this is why Canelo looks like an Irishman. The Irish and Spanish are basically the same people, living in different parts of the world.Comment

I had this ginger Mexican classmate in 5th grade. Looked like an All American white kid with freckles. He was from Tijuana and had a thick accent.
When people think of Mexicans they think of someone like Mikey Garcia or the lighter skinned Chavez type. Some Mexicans I've met even look like dark skinned Filipinos. Others look like Italian mobsters.
A lot more diversity in Mexico than people realize.Comment

I see nothing interesting in this article. Latino is not a race just a word to describe people from latin american countries. Latinos are very diverse and can be of any race and ethnic group. It's nothing crazy to see lationos who are mostly of European descent. Pretty much every latino soap opera actor/actress look like they come straight from Europe.Comment
