The WBC's second sanctioned bout. Smith, the last of the Mohicans as you said for Alvarez, we all agree. Again, for WBO leverage it had to be at 154. That's not Alvarez's call for anything different since it's a limit rule. The point for that is a strap. BJS already had the 160 WBO. This could've been a goal path between Warren and GBP since BJS in 2016 was already mentioning Alvarez. One could theorize GBP was playing Warren's game to fight one of his stable at 154 to get to Saunders.

Aside from any of this. Golovkin is set in stone to wanting to fight Floyd or PAC at 154 but not Alvarez when Nelo called him out for 155 after winning Cotto's strap. Alvarez is 26. To say when he has been ready for 160 is all speculation. Either you take his word or don't

The narrative isn't about when Alvarez was ready. The narrative is when the fight gets made and K2 agrees.
Canelo actually said after he beat Khan that he'd happily fight Golovkin at 160 because the weight wasn't a problem. So I tool his word then. Then Oscar started talking about how he needed time to fight middles because he wasn't a middle. But he couldn't fight anyone world level at 154 because that's not he's division anymore. Therefore he was a middle. Which they seem to accept now. But again, he himself said he was after Khan. So in this respect all this Caneloweight stuff has been rubbish. Whatever way you slant it, he dropped the belt. The middleweight title that he never won from a middle or defended against a middle. Now he's fighting a supermiddle four pounds north of middle. He's a middleweight by his own admission, including the run up to this fight, while he's management keep telling us he's not really. Just fight a good guy in the division you really belong in.

Canelo has no need to fight at a full 160 until his team feels he is ready. He's not a 35 yr old boxer on the back end of his career.
I understand the money angle. I also understand that as fans we want to see the best fights. We don't want to see world beaters dropping belts and dropping divisions to fight domestic level guys who happen to hold a belt. Who wants that? He isn't really a 154lb fighter anymore. He can't compete with a top fighter in the state he has to get to to make that weight. Therefore why not just fight a good guy in the division you belong in? I'm not saying don't fight an occasion catchweight, but not every fight should be a manipulation. We wanna see good fair fights don't we. GBP is making him a laughing stock.

That's just your opinion. Martinez's dumbass didn't have to fight Cotto. Doesn't matter if Cotto "wasn't" a Middleweight. That's like saying PAC was never a "Welterweight" yet still fought there at catchweights and beat several "high caliber" dudes. Point is the council is sanctioning the bout.

Surely you've got the point. All you need to do is reference PAC or any bout ever sanctioned at a catch. Alvarez beat Cotto. To say what weight he should be at during or after is justified how? Golovkin has flat out said for 2 years that Alvarez is too big, disrespect to boxing and didn't fight at Alvarez's demand yet wants to fight PAC or Floyd at 154....

You can't make this stuff up!!!

He should've defended the 160lb title against a 160lbder because that is the weight he held the title at. Same with Cotto, making Geale nearly killed himself to make a weight and then walking around calling himself middleweight champion. I don't know why you keep referring to Pac as if I'm in support of him fighting Cotto at a lower weight, but I do know that he had to fight Mayweather at the actual weight he held a title at. Imagine that Pac had demanded Mayweather weigh in at 144 because he was too small to fight him otherwise. This makes boxing a joke. Canelo, who feels so grear at middle now, could simply fight middles at middle. We know it's a manipulation, so why all the pretending it'd because he's slowly growing by a pound a year? And yeah, maybe Golovkin would go to 154 for Mayweather or pac,but neither of them are 154lbders. And nobody in their right mind would want to see that anyway.

Lol. So you're not a PAC fan because I cited his catchweight title bouts vs your reasoning (full limit) with Floyd? Why would PAC even entertain a catch with Floyd when he fought Marquez at 147? And Marquez came below 143. What did PAC weigh?! Marquez 4. Has PAC fought limits at 147? When you learn the answer, reask as to why he would ask Floyd as you stated...

Nice try. Lol. Look at u defending Golovkin in any occurrence....

You should read my previous posts before trying to put me in your little bubble. Ive never been a massive Pac fan, never defended the blood test nonsense. And when Golovkin was put head to head with Nunn in a fantasy fight I picked Nunn. Fights are simply better when contested at a fair weight. And boxing is better when the champion defends against the best challenger. I like Tyson Fury. Didn't think much of him dropping his title to avoid a Price defence. And I'm a big fan of Rid**** Bowe, but not defending against Lewis took the shine of he's reign. And I've never called a single fighter a coward on here ever. Just want to see the best fights.

The Grandmaster Floyd labeled him Triple L... why would I feel insecure about that? I don't think you know what insecure means

Or would I prefer Lil'G by Ward? These are epic names written in stone by greats before him. Wise up

Not even close to being a laughing stock and that's why he is now the owner of the two biggest days on the boxing calendar. Golden Boy is managing his career the right way. They are operating with the short term and long term goals in mind.

He may well be the cash cow but that's not what I'm talking about. I go to two boxing gyms and he's name has been tarnished by the way he gave up the belt. Social media has attacked him mercilessly. I don't think any boxer is afraid of any man, but he's legacy will be badly damaged if he never fights Golovkin or he gets beaten when he fights him. And if he loses to Chavez now, nobody will have a good word for him. Oscar has made it look like he has no confidence in him with this fiddling about with the weight.
