seems like Ward won the 1st fight but i cant really see what he can do more in the rematch and Kovalev is just a nasty guy and i see him coming on stronger in the rematch knowing Ward cant hurt him..I think Kovalev might stop Ward this time...
Ward-Kovalev gives me that Roy-Tarver feels for some reason

Ward won most of the later rounds but he never dominated or took over..more of Kovalev gassing or laying back IMO!!! just my opinion and i could be wrong..but i never saw Ward TAKE OVER the fight..he just did enough to get rounds...Comment

I think Ward realised in the second half he could win solely by fighting on the inside. He realised it too late though, so this time he'll be looking to get inside Kovalev from round 1.Last edited by Vadrigar.; 04-07-2017, 04:49 AM.Comment

Ward is nowhere near as revered as Roy was going into those first 2 fights but he has always shown a good chin.
Kovalev is a far better fighter than Tarver ever dreamed of being.
So there is literally zero call for comparison.Comment

HUUUUUH?
If there's one thing both sides of this ridiculous argument agree on it's that Ward was completely and utterly negated on the inside. Kov took the best aspect of Ward's game and upped him.
The rounds Ward won was by leaping in with shots, namely the left hook (his right hand was absolute rubbish).
If Ward tries for that inside game, it's gonna turn into a much worse night for him...even though you may be right and the judges will probably give him rounds for simply standing up lolComment

Absolute nonsense.
I've watched the fight and it's nothing like you described. Ward was having difficulty trying to box kovalev at distance. He boxed at a distance because he was wary of Kovalev's power. Once he got used to Kovalev's power, he figured out fighting Kov inside wouldn't be a problem. Kovalev couldn't fight inside that's why he kept on head locking ward.
Wards body work was tiring Kovalev out and that's why he faded in the second half. Ward will replicate this strategy in the second fight.
The rounds Ward won gave him a 114-113 victory. That's how I scored it and it's definitely reasonable.Comment

Kovalev is one of those guys that will only give so much.
It's not in his nature to dig deep.
He can dish it out...but he can't take it.
He won't even listen to his trainers.Comment
