In the UK I know that my friends have canceled their subscription service because they can no longer use American DNS servers to bypass content restrictions and watch the American Netflix library.

HBO is subscription based. They often make a loss on TV shows like Deadwood and Rome but they carried on anyway because of subscribers, they don't have to justify their programs based on Nielsen ratings - that's why their slogan's always been "it's not TV. It's HBO". As long as subscribers still pay subscriptions and watch Boxing After Dark and occasionally order a PPV they don't care.

HBO wants to be topshelf at everything, that's their mantra.... they're not interested in being second-rate at anything they do. They see the biggest draws in the sport going to PBC and getting bigger money, so they've thrown up their hands and said '**** it, not worth the headache.'

Even if PBC is dead in a year, the damage is done over at HBO.... boxing is on the backburner.
Biggest draws in the sport? Sorry Floyd is retired hbo has all the ppv stars.

Imo, Netflix should get into Boxing. This way, us boxing fans can watch a fight on a Netflix app on our phone. It's the way of the future!

How would Netflix work on a live event? It doesn't do anything live they would have to start with some other sport to even see if it works before they invest into boxing.

Nelson can touch his boss' thigh & ask him, while looking directly into his boss' eye, if there is ANYTHING he can do for a bigger budget in 2018.
Yeah. Bandwidth technology has caught up. People with online contracts and cable with 1TB quota gets cheaper by the year. Therefore, Full HD streams are not exclusively anymore or limited to cable lines. Optical seems to be implemented in almost all homes forward. I pay 7gb quota on my phone here in Turkey for just 15 dollars a month. In the states Americans are ripped off from a "1st world country" standard

                  Not currently. But they will.

And yea maybe they do start with another sport, but my assumption is they would start with a sport more outside of mainstream sports due to long term contracts being in play for those mainstream sports. Idk that you can just offer $8B or whatever to MLB & figure sh^t out. They'd need to have a team one would think to work out the kinks & I don't see why boxing couldn't be that sport to work out the kinks since boxing is a everyone for themselves sport. I'd say they could just do a deal with Top Rank & make it a win win thing. In fact I suspect it will be something exactly like that.

Les Moonves has openly given props to Netflix as huge player in the future. Don't be surprised if PBC reruns would have streaming on Netflix. The more PBC branding the better. A rerun PBC structure with occasional Live bouts isn't far fetched. The Netflix platform is open dibs for boxing
