He fought cotto to land the mega fight not defend a belt at a weight he's never fought at you dumbazZ. It's that simple. Floyd fought canelo at catch weight for his belts at 154. He knew the mandatories and obligations he won and NEVER defended those belts at 154 for 2 years before he vacated it. Only reason he wasn't stripped was the crooked belts orgs broke their rules and never enforced the mandatory. Had they done so he was going to vacate the belt earlier like canelo. Floyd fought canelo for money didn't care about defending the belt.Last edited by Shape up; 04-01-2017, 05:59 AM.

Bad move! The worst thing any team can do it believe their own press releases. Team 3G rolled the dice and lost. Many of us saw this coming. The whole PPV business model has tanked since the Mayweather/Pacquiao fiasco. Now the GGG brand has declined in bargaining power not only with Canelo but with Saunders and other boxers as well. It would be ironic if Saunders withdraws his offer and fights Canelo instead in a September fight in England.

I'm sorry if you can't understand adding cotto a hall of fame great to his resume meant more the any belt there are millions of belts and ppv stars like canelo, cotto, manny, Floyd don't care much about them they interchange them or drop them. It's about money first most and making fights fans want to see second. Most fans dont even know all the belts or care. Canelo never cared about the belt or any obligations that come with it cotto had it and put it on the line for their fight. Just like he's about to dump the belt he got from the smith fight he don't care about any of those mandatories he chooses who he fights like floyd, like cotto, like manny, ect. And he fought khan for money just like GGG fought brook difference is he at least fought at 155 and didn't drag a WW all the way up to 160 like hyocorite after he bashed canelo fighting khan like GGG did. See GGG understands this is about money which is why he still wants to fight canelo even though he has no belt at 160.
There is no belt that is going to give leverage to GGG over canelo he's the biggest draw and that's what matters. Sergio was the true king and none of that matter when he fought cotto. Needed to give up lbs give cotto first name billing, fight on his date, and give much bigger split...and sergio didn't have paper belts and spotty resume like GGG. He already sold more ppvs and wins over bigger names and still none of that mattered in negotiations with a bigger ppv star. He understood he had to give up concessions too bad GGG doesn't and that's why he fights bums and not big names. He thinks he is a superstar he has ppv star demands but isn't a ppv seller.

Is Oscar full of ****? Absolutely. Does the fact that Oscar is full of **** totally exempt GGG's side from any fault in this whole soap opera? The fact is, GGG has chosen to get in a d1ck measuring contest with a guy that's clearly a bigger star. GGG wouldn't budge on the weight issue. Then he turns down an offer that would more than double his career high payday. And most recently, its this thing of sandwiching a pointless fight with Saunders in between the Jacobs fight and potential Sept date with Canelo. I would be more in support of GGG in this situation if his side didn't act like the biggest diva in B-side big fight history.
Canelo has shown a willingness to go out, seek out the best fights (whether they made financial sense or not), and do what he had to do to make them happened. He went and made an Austin Trout fight, after Trout outclassed Cotto, with a Floyd payday on the table. He agreed to an extremely small money split and a catchweight as the B-side in order to make the Floyd fight happened. He went out and made the Lara fight, when it really didn't make financial sense. He basically allowed himself to be dictated to as a B-side against Cotto. When Canelo is probably the bigger draw of the two. So Canelo's track record of willingness to make the best fights happen is far better than GGG's.

honestly i think as long as boxing writers keep giving loughler and ggg a pass this fight wont happen. loughler is available to writers at an unprecedented level so they are all scared to call him out
