Kovalev or Ward. Personally i'd pick Kovalev as i thought he won the fight. But one of them. Hopefully the rematch happens and we get a better indication.
Who would you have as # 1 p4p and why if not ward?

why did many lists have GGG in it, when he has never faced any elite fighter in a ten plus year career? let alone anyone near the p4p top tenNo list shouild have a guy ranked in a top p4p position who never fought at the world level for almost 4 years.
If we follow that logic then Ward would have had to work his way back onto the list and he would have done (obviously not straight in at 1 or 2) if he had beaten Kovalev. In my book and according to most, he didn't.
So in my personal list, which we can follow chronologically, I had Pac at number one (May no. 2). Pac got KOd and May moves into the number one spot.
He stayed there till he retired, when Wlad, who was number two, moved into the top spot. Pac was number 2 (moving up from 3).
When Fury beat Wlad, Fury moved into my list for the first time but not at 1, whereas Pac took over the top spot and Kovalev slotted into 2.
Since Pacs "retirement" after the Bradley fight, KOvalev took the number one spot. He has not lost it as I thought he beat Ward and did so quite well.
You can follow how my lists changes here: https://www.boxingscene.com/forums/s...d.php?t=738181
and it also contains my criteria
why does yours even have GGG in it at the time if you are worried about fighting top opposition? in his career GGG has fought one top guy at 160 and thats Jacobs.....Geale had just lost to barker and got trounced by Cotto, just after.....Lemmy is top 5 but he hasnt proven to be top 3 elite yet......so by your own admission, GGG shouldnt be in the top 5, let alone top ten considering he has fought very few world class guy lol
but i bet he was in your top ten p4p....you gotta be consistent and not make your biase, double standards so easy to see lol
has Ward ever lost? no
he beat Dawson in 2012( a champion)...rodriquez was a top ten contender at 168 at the time he fought him, thats world class in 2013....he didnt fight in 2014 and only fought paul smith in 2015 he beat a solid top ten 175er in Barrera and unseated a top 5 p4p entrant in kovalev in 2016
where did you get four years from?
has he beaten eliteLast edited by therealpugilist; 03-22-2017, 12:43 PM.Comment

then why is manny ranked so highly and so highly touted and he is damn near 40? his skills and resume are top notch
Ward just turned 33.....floyd was p4p #1 until he retired at 38
of course they dont fight like 20 year olds
ward has shown he can adapt to any style and is far more proven vs certain styles than Loma...Do you see ward losing to a 175 Salido type? heeeeeell naw
Loma is awesome but he doesnt do well when pressured or when on the inside...id have to see him overcome a top fighter with that style first to say he'd beat ward.....ward can spoil. box. walk you down, catch and counter, literally everything...loma isnt as crafty inside and hasnt had many rough fights like Ward vs Froch, Kovalev, Bika and came out on top
if they were the same size id pick ward.....he can fight anyway anyhow to win...hes prove it. Loma hasnt yet and its ok.
can ward knock people senseless with one or two punches? because lomachenko can. don't expect you to see the value of that, because your life is dictated by what floyd mayweather tells you to do
there are arguments to be made for ward, but you're not making them. he's not nearly as well rounded as lomachenko, who can box as well as antybody on the planet right now, as well as knock durable opponents into next week.Comment

......can you stay on topic? Whitaker and willie pep werent punchers but were clearly p4p or one of the best so your point? hell mayweather was p4p and wasnt a puncher, the list goes on....skills>powercan ward knock people senseless with one or two punches? because lomachenko can. don't expect you to see the value of that, because your life is dictated by what floyd mayweather tells you to do

can LOma fight well in a phone booth? no...can ward? yes..for that reason if they were the same size id choose ward who fights in so many ways and never looks the same, he adjusts to his opponent.
neither guy is a ko artist...if my life was dictated by floyd id have claimed Ward lost to kovalev dumb azz...i have my own brain and eyes, unlike you...i use them lolComment

gennady golovkin. Is the most dominant champion and thats why hes my number 1. Has been on top of middleweight for a long time now.Comment

Loma is the best right now. I think his over all skills and talents translate the best if he were at any weight. Of course Rigo too!
I think Crawford is coming and Chocolatito is always right there.
Koval and GGG just aren't as well rounded as the men I mentioned. Koval is a head hunter basically a one dimensional guy who needs distance to be effective. GGG boxes well but another who can't get to close and be effective.
P4P King means that a particular fighters talent and skill set would translate to being a winner in any weight class!!
I don't think most members here have a clue what it means.

Got to give it to Ward but this P4P list is so weak... I dont know if there ever been a weaker list than the one we got now..Comment

it was pretty thin after ODLH, Roy Jones and Hopkins fell off in the mid 2000s....its just another transitional period...it was a mess and the list always had major changes.....someone will make it clear...happens every generationComment
