At that time he was very much worthy of p4p

as for inside fighting, Duran one of my favorites All time because of his inside fighting but inside fighting is no excuse to get blasted in the face and not move your head

Based on his last 2 fights as well as his defeat Saturday I cannot consider him STILL #1 P4P that is MY OPINION!

My opinion that Roman won the fight is an opinion that holds more weight than yours considering the clean effective punching and out-landing him considerably.

or are you going to try and say the punchstats were exaggerated propaganda?

This is clearly not roman's division, that's a fact not BS my friend.

Not just Weight but height, and especially bodyframe have to be taken into consideration.

Again, you asked for facts and I gave them. You on the other hand respond with opinions, for the most part.

Regardless of how you saw the fight Roman has an official L on his record. So your whole "my opinion hold a more weight" is out the window because I stated a fact haha.

Again, Roman was coming in at featherweight and close to super featherweight back at 112 and that's why he decided to move up. His body was having issues dropping down to Flyweight. This is all documented. So his height might be shorter than many of the current 115 pounders but that doesn't mean he isn't in his natural weightclass.

Clearly that isnt for beating Paul smith, barrera and ...the other guy? i cant even remember his name.

So he's solely on there for what he did 5 years prior...

But yeah...Good post, i think the key point here is, the age, like i said before, 30 is around 40 for the little guys.
When a dude is essentially inactive for several years, like Ward was, its hard to rate him.

He achieved his high status based on what he did at 168. And there was no evidence that he had slipped from there -- but that was because he had no fights or was fighting showcases.

So keeping Ward on the p4p during his "retirement" is a bit on faith, assuming he's still the boxer we saw in his prime.

NOBODY is saying that Roman is not P4P at all, he just not #1 anymore. We can't just hold on to his PRIME and ignore what we're seeing now that is NOT how P4P Works.

Based on his last 2 Fights has he Performed like the #1 P4P Fighter in all of boxing? ABSOLUTELY NOT!

It is still some confusion as far as "What Is P4P" everybody have their own interpretation of that which is why it is no such thing as an official P4P Ranking! It is all just Opinions! If you consider Roman #1 on YOUR P4P Rankings then More Power To You!
Not really, it's not about having a 'narrative' its simply observing who is the best candidate.

taking everything into consideration, i can't see anyone else who fits the bill?

          who exactly would you suggest?

My work here is not done until i have convinced you bud

Roman is clearly small for 115. Is not his natural weight class. Just like Pac isn't a natural WW.

But that doesn't mean he gets a pass for p4p. IMO, you take the fighter as they are fighting TODAY. Roman is choosing to fight at 115. And he is no longer OVERWHELMING and DOMINATING at 115, his chosen weight class. He is still an excellent boxer (altho he did take a lot of punches), but his power isn't the same (or else the Thai has a rock solid chin, which may be), and he gives up size.

BUT, he still clearly beat Cuadras, an excellent Supafly, and Rungisvai, a very good Supafly (eff the judges, they got it wrong).

I'll keep Chocolatito at #1 for now, as he just beat a very good 115 contender.

But he's slipping. I don't see him at #1 for long. If Kova-Ward is a clear result, it will likely decide who is #1

Heres something to keep in mind next time you study film: despite the close range fighting and constant contact in range you hardly see his head getting snapped back or staggering back to create space for safety which means he trust in his skill set as oppose to other means such as clinching, footwork also hes barely touched the canvas despite the high volume of punches around these weight -- thats a testament of skill.

His flash knockdown with vs. Rungvisais ( granted there was contact with his head) made me think for a minute and question his abilities at this stage -- I don't have a problem people not keeping him as #1. but even with what you might consider a L is not enough to remove off top five.

You stray too much from the subject. You initially stated that i couldn't post facts and when I did you just went off the deep end . Goodluck with passing off opinions as facts in the future, sadly your attempts are futile with me.

No P4P Ranking can't be wrong, again it is all opinions, if you have you have him #1 Fair enough! He is STILL one of the best fighters P4P in boxing I'm not arguing against that I just don't have him #1 anymore.

I thought Roman was more well rounded BEFORE HBO now it seems like he is fighting more of a style that HBO Prefers which is very exciting no doubt but he is also taking a lot more punishment in fighting that way

P4P the most entertaining fighter in boxing today that is for sure!

yes ok P4P is about dominating your opposition etc.

but hey ward got dropped and got a gift and he's widely touted as the new p4p king, so why shouldnt roman still be no.1?

He has no business being in with these much bigger guy's at the tail end of his career, he's not in his prime, he's not in his weight class.

I was a fan of the guy for the past couple of years, but i have to say saturday night i become a fanboy of the guy.

Practically ANY other boxer would of given up after getting cut of that bad.

The dude was literally looking towards the heavens each time he got of his stool, Roman has said he ' would die in the ring' and last weekend proved it. The heart he showed was awe inspiring, the way he came back and won that fight...

If he was 3 weight classes bigger, people would be slurping on his dong, proclaiming him TBE.

Roman Gonzalez the greatest little man ever and one of the best fighters of our generation.
Because he lost to an 'unknown' dude and not another P4P fighter.

Im not a Roman hater by any means but it is what it is.
