It's no different and the exact same reason why De La Hoya has been keeping Canelo away from GGG these past two years. It's because he fears that Canelo may get his ass whooped.
For example, the only reason why Oscar have been holding Canelo back all these months, by having him relinquish his WBC title belt he had previously won against Miguel Cotto and then subsequently having him move back down to the 154lb division is because he knows once his guy steps into that ring with Gennady Golovkin it's over. He is going to get his ass knocked out.
So as Canelo's promoter; Oscar's job is to protect his only cash cow by keeping him winning, healthy and marketable. It's only common sense. Those choices don't make Oscar a coward but a very smart and savvy business man.
Canelo would be taking a huge risk by challenging GGG. That's why De La Hoya has been very cautious with sending him in there; By making excuses, stalling and avoiding him over these past several months.
