It's a certainty that the fight will do under 500k. I think most in this forum will be floored if it does over 200k. (Ward Kovalev did 160k) GGG should take that money and run. No way he gets that type of cash in any other fight. Remember he'll likely make more on the back end too (that fight could do 1.5M in sales).

That doesn't make any sense. How does De la Hoya not want the fight? He keeps telling Golovkin to sign.It seems to me that De La Hoya doesn't want the fight. He's making up any excuse to duck Golovkin.
First it was the weight issue now it's the money. For his sake, he better hope that Canelo is successful in defeating JCC, Jr. However, I have this eerie feeling, that if Chavez, Jr. Doesn't win by knockout, he isn't going to win the fight, no matter how dominating his performance is.
Moreover, if the fight is anywhere close he can might as well forget about it. The reason being is there is no way he is going to win a close fight against Canelo on the scorecards whether the venue is in Nevada, Texas, California or any other heavily Chicano populated venue.
It's been confirmed by both sides the weight isn't the issue anymore, now it's the money. Goldenboy have their minds made up on the money and PPV percentage. If GGG really wants the fight, sign it. He's not going to get nowhere near that anywhere else, especially with a rematch with Jacobs.Comment

The sport is called prize fighting for a reason. They don't fight for the hell of it. Unlike street fights, boxing is a business. The bouts themselves are the way the money is made -- how they make their living or how they become millionaires in the case of those at the very top of their profession. These guys are not afraid of each other, "yellow" as you put it, the way a kid is afraid of the school yard bully. BTW, fighters fight guys who can hurt them all the time. I don't know if you have noticed, but both fighters throw punches during a fight.Canelo has never faced a true middleweight. Not once. Even a drained, sloppy, undedicated Junior can't fight like a middleweight. I think Canelo did the right thing for his career handing over the belt to the man and being a coward. Don't fight guys who can hurt you. Be yellow. Be Canelo.Comment

smart observers have been saying that for some time
This De La Hoya **** on purse split, A side etc is just that, pure ****. I know it's a business and all that, blah, blah, blah but let's face it, GGG isn't going to be sleeping rough for a while yet - I don't think he's quite down to his last 5 bucks. So, just go tell the Golden Girl to **** off, take the BJS belt in Summer and just sit atop the middleweight tree for the next couple of years and watch ginger ***** float around fighting bum catchweights against nobodies. I mean, if ***** doesn't fight GGG after Chavez who does he fight!!
..... you mean, next to Danny Jacobs ?Comment

What terms?
Has DLH been specific?
How many options (if any) will GBP get?
What about a rematch?
All I know is that some say a flat fee (and maybe a low PPV cut) has been offered. Does anybody know anything else or are people here just jumping at conclusions?Comment

Big GGG fan and i admit the balloon has popped , GGG gamble on getting bigger with time is looking like its not gonna pan out , 15M is a very good offer and if he skips this fight it will be the worst decision in his career , win or lose he will be set for life (he is already rich , but this settles it even further) and a win erases the Jacobs fight out of the fan memories and catapults him into being the mega star of boxing , i dont see how they can skip this offer with a straight face ,can they fight for 5m more ? maybe , but the risk isn't worth it.even if you're a diehard GGG fan and have him beating Jacobs.. his stock dropped.
GGG was the indestructible bogeyman. that was the angle used to promote him. that baloon popped.
GGG needs to just take whatever is being offered. if he truly believes he can win then do it. and if Canelo wants a rematch now he gets to dictate. that's what Floyd did to get the DLH fight. he accepted his role a B side.
GGG is not making $15 million nowhere else. what other choice does he have?
Canelo can pursue a Cotto rematch, Chavez rematch, or if he wants to he can offer Billy Hoe more money and snatch him as a GGG opponent.
GGG needs to stop being a "business man" and just accept the terms so we can this over with.Comment

Personally, I don't believe Oscar can be trusted. I think he's a crook. As a fighter, he always made his opponents take shorts and as a promoter he is no different. That doesn't make any sense. How does De la Hoya not want the fight? He keeps telling Golovkin to sign.

Golovkin team saw that contract and found something wrong with it. It's just like when Mayweather offered Pacquiao that take it or leave it flat fee of $40 Mil, while he takes all the money made through the PPV sales; Which Manny rightfully so turned down.
I bet the Canelo deal is very similar to that one. I bet he'll get more than his share of the money on the back end through PPV sales, while GGG gets virtually next to nothing. That's perhaps why his team hasn't accepted the offer at this time.Comment

Who comes out first. check
Who wears which gloves. check
15 million with ppv %. check
both guys must face initial 2017 opposition, Jacobs and Chavez Jr. check?
the logical approach is that K2 signs now since they already did their part. Would the contracts have changed when Alvarez said back during Liam Smith the particular offers before the Chavez Jr. fight was announced?
WHat comments have K2 made regarding the negotiations? Loeffler seems to always be optimistic with it...in public!
Therefore it's safe to say that the doubt is leaning more towards K2 if they can beat Alvarez. Considering everything now with Jacobs and scoring, do you honestly think Loeffler and Abel feel safe with the judging? Couldn't we say the only way Golovkin beats Alvarez is by KO? If K2 have no doubt in GGGd performance be it a KO or the scorecards then they'd take the offer become the new superstar..
We can't blame GBP forever without taking rationallyComment
