That's saying they'll remove sanction of the bout if the fighters don't sign. So if Jacobs didn't sign sanction would have been removed. Read the rule i posted about unsanctioned bouts, Golovkin would have been stripped.


So Jacobs did Golovkin a favour.

I'm pretty sure the IBF wouldn't strip a champion who got caught in a situation like that because of a mandatory obligation with another sanctioning body. And remember, GGG did Jacobs a favour by giving him more than his mandated share of the purse, rather than refusing to negotiate and forcing Danny to give up his mandatory position.

I think both sides wanted the fight, and they cooperated to make it happen and to get the best financial rewards possible from it.

With GGG being able to make 170 on fight day without weakening himself, the best option for both guys was the one we saw happening.

At least we know after last Saturday Prime Hopkins and Ward would of beat him probably any day and every day. Jacobs WISHED he had even 1/3 the ring intelligence of either one of them. Ward would of made GGG look SLOPPY and drunk. Hopkins has WAY better of a jab then Jacobs. And he LOVES to hit the guy and fall (Almost like a tackle) into them to wrap them up. GGG would of been on ****** street against old school B-hop.

Actually we will never know nothing of the sort. Hypothetical fights are fun to debate but that's about it.

I don't see the remach happening before Canelo and Sanders fights, so by that time Gennady will have all the belts anyway. Rematch might even happen at 168.. anyway, the discrepancy in the weight wont be as huge as it was in this fight.

Agree that Golovkin will see out Canelo and Saunders first (negotiations allowing), but if Golovkin goes to 168, doubt he would fight Jacobs as no trinkets, so more likely Ramirez.

GGG does not have an IBF mando due at the moment, so they would still have sanctioned the fight as an optional defense for GGG, but obviously Jacobs would not have been able to win the belt. (The sanctioning bodies have an agreement in place that deals with respecting other sanctioning body mandos and whose mando goes first, etc). GGG would not have been stripped for fighting Jacobs, but he would have had to pay his fees and weigh in on fight day same as usual

Just like Zab - Baldomir, where Baldomir decided he didnt want to pay the sanction fees for the IBF title but it still counted as an optional defense for Zab

aside from that, their rankings are deplorable

there is no telling what they may, or may not, have done

He needs to hurry up, turns 35 next month I think. He didn't look old against Jacobs but at his age only a matter of time before he "grows old over night". If he doesn't fight Canelo in Sept or before the year is over then I'm afraid he might lose a step if they wait till spring 2018 but knowing Oscar, Canelo and B-Hop that's exactly what Golden Boy wants to happen.

Fury's situation isnt even remotely similar. Fury knew that the winner had a mando due next. He also knew that the IBF does not recognize rematch clauses. He opted to go for the rematch money instead of honoring the obligations he agreed to before the Klitschko fight even happened, so its got nothing to do with this situation.

if that was Jacobs plan, then why not disclose to team GGG? and IBF not in play, and no morning weigh-in. no class, tried to get one by, AND STILL LOST to smaller guy 😂😂😂
