GGG's Narrative Changes: "I am boxer. I am not killer."

Did you notice how GGG's narrative suddenly changed last night.

He went from, "I know I can box like Floyd. I can box Smart. But that is boring for people. I want to bring drama show. People watch excitement. They want a show."

    For Jacobs, he stated:

"I can't destroy him. He is very clean, good fighter. I need boxing. I need decision. This is sport. I am boxer. I am not killer."

His most effective work was done with a jab. As Max said to him in the post fight interview, we usually see him more active with his hands. So it seems that when he's staring into the face of a quality opponent, he too forgets about the "big drama show."

Don't get me wrong, I certainly don't blame him. I just thought it was interesting how his narrative changed.

If anything, the narrative change just created an even bigger monster.

Now we know this guy can go 12 rounds against skillful and elite movers and boxers, and still out-jab, hurt and win the decision by utilizing patient and methodical boxing, not so much seek and destroy at all costs? Damn

Who has the package to beat this guy?

He was catious against Lemieux and Jacobs, acknowledging their power, and relied on his jab, even forgetting about the body shots and that's the aspect he's great at, because when you go to the body you leave the hole in your defense and Golovkin wasn't willing to take that risk against a big puncher like Jacobs. Effective bodyword could help Golovkin to win few rounds, instead of it he was headhunting and looking for that one power punch in later rounds. On the other hand, Danny was ferocious and had no respect for Golovkin's power, so you gotta give him credit for that

He's always been a boxer with great technical skill. He's been stereotyped as a meathead terminator and it's the result of 1. His critics downplaying his skill level and 2. A handful of his fans thinking that the only factors that make him successful are his power and his chin.

Considering there isn't a real such thing as Pound for Pound rankings, so we can technically only judge "elite-ness" within a division.... I'd say- yes, the second best guy in the Middleweight division is elite, however, I was referring more to his skill set. Not many fighters in ANY division has the complete package that Jacobs doesn't have.

Hell, he even showed an improved chin last night. That was his biggest knock. Speed, footwork, power, etc... Jacobs takes out basically anyone at 160....

I think he is, yeah. Think about it...he was one single got caught slipping shot away from entering last night 33-0 and with 29 knockouts. And had a case of winning the fight last night. The guy is literally a hair away from possibly being 34-0 with wins over Gennady Golovkin and a first round destruction of Peter Quillin.

He's very, very good. If he's not flat out elite he's just a hair beneath it.

What's your rating of Daniel Jacobs then? The guy was widely regarded as the second best MW in the world going in last night, and made a strong case of beating the man who is perceived as the best MW in the world.

If he's not elite then what is he? Semi-elite? The guy is f**king good. I don't see why it's so hard for people to admit this.
