Really a teenage canelo who was stunned for a few seconds then knocked out cotto brother. Let me ask you who hits harder Miguel or his bum brother? Don't answer we all know the answer and grown man canelo was never hurt by the bigger stronger hall of fame brother miguel. So either you re tarded and think his bum brother is better and stronger or canelo was clearly just a green teenage kid. He was fighting grown men when most kids his age were fighting other kids in amateurs with head gear on. Canelo learned on the fly against grown men. Has gone on to fight bigger, stronger, world class fighters in higher weights never been down and only fight you can find where he was hurt was when he was teenage kid. That speaks to how legit his chin in that you have to go back that far to grasp at straws.

It was just Sanchez's dopey gameplan. I'll say he trained Golovkin well because he was definetely disciplined but that was a horrible gameplan and they went in way overestomating Jacobs power, like he wasnt allowed to get hit once or his head would explode. Put him with Roach and you wont see him fight like that.

That would be a brilliant move for Golovkin to go with Roach. I likened him to James Toney tonight. He's calm cool and relaxed. You can hit him with a cinder block and he's still there. Great with slipping punches but is inherently limited because his offense is defined by what his opponent does. Less slipping and more punching is what he needs to do

GGG fought a cruiserweight tonight, still dropped him and won 7 rounds. Sadly the ko streak is broken. Jacobs is good, i think GGG respected him too much because of what Danny went through.


Anyway - no more friday morning weigh ins that makes such a huge weight difference possible. Jacobs was 2 weightclasses above GGG tonight. Disgusting if you ask me.

Well Golovkin was 170, a LW, so no Danny was only one division heavier which isn't a good enough excuse to get a gift decison. GGG fought scared tonight which is a shame and an embarrasment to "Mexican Style".

I'm glad he won though, hopefully the fight was a complete bust financially and he'll finally accept the Canelo fight.

Jacobs won but he definitely had an unfair advantage by rehydrating way more than the 10 lbs IBF limit and then refused to show up for the next day weigh in. Jacobs wasn't interested in taking GGG's belts he just wanted to win while GGG stayed within the 10 lbs ibf limit in order to keep his belts. I think thats one of the reason the judges gave GGG the win because Jacobs is not an upstanding guy, he pulled the same stunt as Lemeiux did last week trying to gain the advantage over his opponent.

I'm surprised by how limited Golovkin was tonight. I thought of all things, going in kill mode would be his forte. But no he remained as a cautious surgeon looking for shots Jacobs would give him when he made mistakes.

I've watched highlight reels of Golovkin and he was an exceptional attacker. I didn't see any of the amount of shifting I expected would be in his tool belt tonight with Jacobs widening the distance constantly. For a taller guy he should have been throwing over hand rights like Maidana all night. Also where was the body attack?

Beyond that there was no fire in his eyes. He didn't have the temperament as a finisher. Everytime he landed something great (Jacobs of course would make the right moves to de-escalate the situation) he would wind up forfeiting the control back to Jacobs. By resetting and adapting his attack wasting time. He should have never slowed the pace down especially when he landed something of note.

Then again, maybe Golovkin is just old. He had the ring iq to know where he could land pot shots but it never rose above that. I like probably everyone else thought he had the killer mentality to not let Jacobs breathe. All in all with the idea he may be old maybe he isn't the big gorilla he's made out to be. He looked small in there against Jacobs and should have been chopping him down with overhands. Body shots too

You make some good points but overlook a lot of things around Jacob's quality as a fighter. Fans often make this mistake because come forward destroyers like Golovkin look so destructive against lower level fighters, they can't do those same things to higher level fighters, only the real exceptional one's in history were able to do that.

He wasn't able to do the things he normally can because the guy in front of him was doing a whole lot of things in combination that his previous competition wasn't doing. Namely - good foot movement, good upper body movement, tight guard (although jabs getting through), and then more importantly he had real firepower coming back at him, fast, heavy shots. Golovkin was clearly bothered by some of those shots, and he had visible reactions to body punches.

Golovkin didn't get old, he looked physically the same as he always does, but he was in with a very good fighter. He was being made to miss...a lot, especially with power shots. That makes you hesitant to throw.

Overall Golovkin is still one of the best today but he found his level.
