So for Ward to be dragging his feet on the rematch when he already agreed to all the terms for it before the first fight, in the event he won, and when Ward already got such a great financial split that even his trainer was saying Kovalev was being shafted and it wasn't fair, it really does look like he's scared. If I'm Kovalev, I say "I'm not going to join in on your chicken dance. You signed the contract. Even your trainer said you got a way more fair deal than I did. So either fulfill the contract you signed, or I'll see you in court."

But it sounds like Kovalev just wants to fight, so if giving in to Ward's unprofessional diva **** is what he takes, he might just do it. Seems dumb to me because Ward could be bluffing about retiring just to squeeze even more money out Kovalev's side, which is pathetic since a few months ago it was Team Ward pretending like they cared about Kovalev and how unfair it was that he wasn't getting paid as much as them. So Team Ward always acts humble and like they care about others, but time and time again their actions are those of selfish slimeballs, or snakes.

Hopefully they prove me wrong though and fulfill the contract they signed, and the fans get the rematch in June, since apparently Ward needed to put his career on hold again for 7 months after just coming back last year in order to give his body time to recover from the beating Kovalev put on him. But if they want to bluff that they won't fulfill their contract in order to get Kovalev to change the terms of an already agreed upon contract, I think Kovalev should just take them to court, because a fair contract should be upheld, and this basically blackmail of "we won't do what we agreed to and you won't get a chance to win your belts back unless you go along with our attempts to undue our own agreement" is just wrong.

It's like if you take your car to get your tire changed for 200 bucks, but instead of changing your tire, they take all four tires off, and then say "don't worry we'll still fix your broken tire and put back the functioning ones, but I don't care what we agreed to before, if you want to be able to drive home tonight, now the cost is 600 bucks." You can't explain it any way other than what it is: that's bull****! And it's completely unChristian. It's sad to see Andre Ward being such a bad example for Christian kids and families of faith. You think you can look to someone like him as a rare religious role model in our celebrity culture, but he's turning out to be one of the worst, and most hypocritical of them all, rather than what he said he is. It's sad to see.

I don't expect him to be a saint just because he seems to think he is, but are honesty and doing what you say, being a man of your word, really so much to expect from someone who calls themselves S.O.G.? I guess so.
Religious people are typically the most hypocritical, so I wouldn't have faith in anyone who implies goodness and purity just because of their belief in a deity.

Who knows, Ward might just be making Kovalev sweat a little before he agrees to the terms of their rematch. If not, then we know that Andre didn't want the fight. Either way, we'll get some answers eventually.

Anybody that says one guy clearly beat the other is either clueless, or has a fanboy agenda. 7-5 either way is a good score. Either way, here's my take. This fight kinda reminded me of Jones-Tarver I. Ward, like Roy, has been basically untouchable in his career. But in this fight, he had to gut out a win against a guy that he's probably gonna have a tough time beating again. I don't see much for Ward to improve on from the first fight. Going into the fight, Ward had to believe that he could outbox Kovalev in the center of the ring. And at times he did. But, Kovalev held his own when it became a boxing match. Even Ward's roughhousing wasn't as effective as normal because Kovalev was the stronger guy. Problem for Ward is that Kovalev can improve on what he did in the first fight. The biggest thing is that he now has no fear of Ward's boxing ability. IMO Kovalev, like Target in that first Jones fight, was too respectful of Ward's boxing ability and fought more cautious than normal. I don't think Kovalev took his foot off the gas. I believe Ward's body work took a lot out of him. But I do think Kovalev was a lil too worried about Ward's counterpunching ability. Now he knows he can beat Ward to the punch and will be more offensively minded. At the end of the day, I think its still a 50/50 fight because Ward knows how to win. But I'm definitely picking Kovalev in a rematch. Not sure if Ward wants to go through what he's gonna have to go through to beat this guy again.

Gonna talk his way into the fight. Like PBP said, anyone who's been paying attention knows Ward doesn't negotiate in front of the public and he doesn't buckle to social pressure, ever. Duva is going to have to accept their terms. Whether anyone agrees with the outcome or not, the belts are at Ward's house. Andre went to HBO looking for Kovalev, he took the match against the boogey man, he took away his belts. Now, he's on the throne and he's calling the shots. That's how the game works, kids.
LOL! Wow, how's life there Andre? Enjoying lolly-gaggin' 'round and NOT fighting Kov? LOL!!!

And he didnt ran the mile like Lara or Mayweather. Kovalev's inability to adapt cost him the match.

The judges did that. Kov beat Ward's azz. Ward's still recuperating. Too many 'owwies' and 'boo-boos' to fight I guess. LOL!!!

I still firmly believe that after the KD, most people got it in their heads that Ward was going to lose. That's what I initially thought. The difference is that I still kept scoring the rounds with an open mind whereas others just couldn't look past the idea that Krusher was going to win acd they scored accordingly.

That said, it was close so I don't have a problem with people who think it could go either way, even if they have Kov winning.
I would bet that many people were thinking that Kovalev was going to dominate and even stop Ward after that knock down. With those expectations people often tend to give the "fighter who is supposed to lose" the benefit of the doubt if things are close. Sometimes we give more credit to a guy who survives the rough spots than what he deserves. Just giving you another point of view on what you said. I think it was a fairly close fight.
