Those who watch all PBC telecasts, including FS1, Bounce, NBCSN, etc, have gotten to see a lot of their prospects develop. So PBC is addressing this issue.

Top boxers fighting once or twice a year is what I dislike about boxing these days. They used to fight about 4 times a year. I also dislike the low ranked. low quality boxers that are now considered acceptable challengers for world champions. If a champion is only going to fight once or twice a year they could at least fight a legit contender.

Yeah. It really sucks when you wait all year and your favorite fighter drops a can. Very discouraging and if hardcore fans are discouraged, then count any casuals out of taking any interest.

That would be nice, but I understand why it's not that way.

Blame it on a variety of things:

            Limited tv slots
            Lowered budgets
            Injuries
Wear and tear on body and brain
Athletic commissions regulating that if you get KO'ed you can't box for 6 months (correct me if i'm wrong) to protect the fighters from brain damage or serious head injuries

Less impact but still has an effect:
Too many belts, challengers wait for the easiest way to get it instead of itching to fight the best title holder.

Science and medicine gets better, scans, technology in the medical field are better, so with that commissions become more strict as we learn more about human biology.

Basically it would never work, for one reason or the other. Whether it's politics or plain medical reasons. Remember, in the days when fighters fought once a week we didn't know anywhere near what we know now in the medical field, neurology and all that.

The other thing about PBC is they always get their guys announcing gigs so they at least get little extra bit of face time and you get to hear them talk about the sport.

Even guys like Caleb Plant and DeLoach got to call fights on FS1.

It's a factor. But they all wanna be like Floyd mayweather and fight once a year with retirement type money.

Little do they know Floyd fought 3-4 times a year to get to that point

Yes, you have to pay your dues to get there.

Two fights a year sounds reasonable if they're fighting top contenders and not pushovers. In between those two fights they could have a "Bum of The Month" club were low risk fighters get a chance, say 2 of these to push the total fights they have to 4.

It would help to keep them more active and sharper for the big bouts.
