How is lineal even relevant these days?

In years past you can trace the lineal title because you were the man who beat the man who beat the man and trace it back to the beginning. But with the cluster *** of so many champs how can that be determined anymore?
What do you mean can't be determined? It's pretty easy in most cases. Take MW for example. Hopkins was clearly the MW and lineal champ> Taylor beat him> Pavlik beat him> Martinez beat him> Cotto beat him> Canelo beat him.

Along the way the orgs stripped the real champions and now Golovkin owns 3 titles and BJS one. That's bull****. Beat the man to become the man. Lineal means much more than orgs that decide who their champ is.

How is the #1 and #2 in each division determined. We have 4 ***ing champs per division.

Its just we hear that this guy won the lineal title this many times, that guy won lineal title this many times.

I'm just wondering how is being lineal determined because imo it's pretty much a BS accolade in this era.

It's determined by the fans and experts. You think the orgs that only think about what's best for them is a better way?

As it relates to Middleweight, Canelo TECHNICALLY is still regarded as "Lineal Middleweight Champion" while GGG by just about everyone is recognized as the BEST Middleweight in the World on top of having 4 of the 5 main titles (if you consider IBO as well). Same applied with Cotto who even when he beat Martinez wasn't considered better than GGG but he "beat the guy, who beat the guy, etc, etc".

Well Hopkins became undisputed after he beat Trinidad. So in turn that made him lineal. Easy to figure out. So basically the way you become lineal is that you have to become undisputed first and that starts the lineal title?

But when people say this person won the lineal title, that mean you can trace it back to the last undisputed champ?

Hopkins and Trinidad were viewed as the two best MW's at the time which is why he became lineal. This is stuff boxing fans should really know.

When the lineal is vacant the 1# and #2 is determined by fans and experts yes. If it's debatable who is the 2 best fighters in the division people do disagree if a fight is for the lineal. Usually most agree who is 1 and 2 though.

If you'd rather be told who is the champ by orgs who only care about making money who is their champion you're a fool.

Bro they were the two best because they were involved in the middleweight tournament. Trinidad best Joppy two win Joppys belt and Hopkins unified with Keith Holmes to win the other belts, so Hopkins met up and beat Trinidad to win all the belts and become the undisputed middleweight champ and in turn become lineal. Easy it figure out.

How about in other divisions. when an undisputed Champion hasn't happen in decades. People say Manny was linael in multiple division and the same as Floyd and other fighters, how?
