Top 20 for sure, I think there were some fights on the table there he could've taken that would've instantly put him in the top ten. I'd argue to say that delaying that Pacquaio fight both made a ton of money but both also hurt their standing because it was two shells fighting each other. Circa 2009 the winner of that would've easily jumped 5 to 10 spots for me.

If you take the logic they use and use it on others you can cut down everyone's resume including Robinson, Ali, Leonard, Duran, Armstrong, etc...
yep..but the exact same posters praise other fighters for doing far, far less

In floyds era if he wanted to be in legitimate talks of being TBE, he had to have done things considered impossible. And his resume doesn't have that.

As far as Manny goes. When he was in the midst of this run that he was on. It seemed amazing, but with the dust settled and eyes more clear. His run was great but still it falls short in order for him to be ranked higher thsh Floyd. IMO Manny is about 25 to 30th all time.
I disagree about having Floyd above Manny entirely.
Pacquiao is and will be for all history the only 8 division champion in boxing history as well as 5-division lineal.
Manny also has a prime ATG on his resume in Barrera. Floyd doesn't have that.
He also has more signature wins IMO.

for the 3rd time of asking, can someone answer what a modern day fighter has to do to enter the top 20 if mayweather cant? do they have to go 100-0? Or 10 weight world champ? Pacuqiaos ranking around the 30/40 mark on here as 8 weight world champ so guess thats not enough? Or should we just start a new ATG list because the modern fighters cant possibly live up to the greatness of these fighters who fought before boxing was an international sport and who most people on here havent ever seen fight....

the difference, and it ain't hard to see at all is floyd's best scalps are good wins...shane, oscar, pac, cotto...but not great wins because those cats been through the ringer before Floyd fought 'em...the prime, undefeateds were hatton and corrales

sugar ray, you got prime benitez, prime hearns, and slightly past prime duran and hagler but high rank atgs overall and even higher ranked atgs in their divisions....even duran and hagler could be considered great wins because nobody ever beat the brakes off of either one of those guys before sugar fought them...

but try explaining this to a mayweather diehard....all they will say is you hatin'...

I know you are struggling to believe that he is not TBE in everyone's mind.

But NEWSFLASH, he is not the real deal TBE.

Look you are not smart enough to come to grips with it. But I know from history and watching boxing since the 80's Floyd is 20th.

You think telling me to name the 19 guys before him will get me to stumble? You are crazy Larry.

Just realize your God is not TBE and is 20th at best. His era and his record of who he fought puts a cap on how high he can go in the rankings and 20th is his cap.

i don't have the definitive answer but for starters, whether you stay in one division or jump divisions, definitely clean out the divsion you are in and become undisputed/lineal, fight everybody that would be considered a part of your era in their prime, prime for prime, don't wait guys out until they lose a step or get ko'd, like guys are doing who are the old dogs...line these guys up, fight 'em and beat em one by one...you don't have to go undefeated, but definitely if you lose, avenge the loss decisively, and by the end of the career, not only will you have the names on your resume, but the names will be prime, and hopefully some of the guys you beat, go on to hof or atg careers themselves, so there is little room for debate....leave no f**king stone unturned....oh and when you get to the top, you gonna fight a bum mandatory every here and there, but sure as s**t leave the cherrypicking to an absolute minimum...

i like the work that thurman is putting in...he on the right path...
