Did you heard how hard the UFC was rallying against getting the Ali Act to encompass MMA? I understand these are companies but you're right about combat sports being a joke when it comes to government oversight of fair competition and business practices. I can think of few inviolable "rules" in this sport.

We're at the point where guys are failing drug tests and it DOESN'T cancel the fight. How the fuq did we get here?

I think the main goal was just to form something like the other sports have. I don't think it was about the government being involved in it. I think the only reason why no one in boxing is pushing for something like this is because of all the money involved.
Oh yea 100%. There are all kinds of guys making nice bank in boxing right now, but the sport & competition suffers. Under some elite league fewer people will be making bank, but obviously the good part for fans is the sport will be better & the competition will be up to par with what most other mainstream sports offer on a regular basis.

My theory is that this current road boxing is on will only make boxing smaller & smaller til its ripe for a takeover by a entity of investors that see that they can conquer & streamline boxing in a way like has never been done in boxing, but pretty much every other sport has taken on. PBC, WBSS & AIBA are the main threats to the status quo clusterf#ck right now, but if all of them fail I fully expect someone to make a attempt after them & after this next group & so on til someone succeeds cuz boxing has gotten so small.

For the IBF it should actually be that simple as it is their rule and their fight, for Stevens yea it would be a lot more complicated.

IBF is the one that actually sticks to their rules also, so letting something just slide seems out of place.

I am not that bugged by a missing of a second weigh in and don't even know if that should be a rule, it didn't look like Lemieux had a major advantage because of it and Stevens fought a pretty dumb fight hanging out on the ropes against a ****er when his defense is suspect.

They can't call the fight off. The only thing they can do is not allow Lemieux to fight for the title, which they did.

They could have not sanctioned the fight at all which creates real problems for the event.
