Hmm, I admit I must have missed that. There seems to be confusion, if nothing else. If there is no contract, then I don't have a problem with Barrera's choice.

Beterbiev hasn't let anyone go the distance with him. AB got dropped by Ward who is not really known for his punching power. AB knows it's a huge risk, and that is why he probably wants more money. It already went to purse bid so he can take it or leave it. His promoter is the one that is know for not paying her fighers.

75% for the higher ranked contender in an eliminator is a ridiculous rule. That's more than the champ gets with other orgs.

Nobody would blame Barrera for turning down a crap offer for a fight he was probably going to lose. But if he didn't like the split, he shouldn't have signed for the fight.

You negotiate before you sign, not after!

Boxing would be totally fucked if more fighters started doing what Barrera seems to have done here .. sign to fight, then pull out a month before the date if you can't get more money than you accepted by signing the contract.

Purse split sucks but you negotiate something better before the purse bid. Certainly before you sign a contract. Golovkin Jacobs had the same purse split and dealt with it like adults.

1) according to Barrera they did not negotiate, they forced an immediate purse-bid

2) Loeffler did the exact same thing and attempted to force a purse-bid with Jacobs, and as a result the fight looked in jeopardy..... the only reason why Team Golovkin returned to the table is because the WBA refused to authorize an early purse-bid as they knew it would kill the fight

3) Team Bullshht tried the exact same thing with Canelo and it killed the fight

Beterbiev is not a big name nor is he a big draw, Barrera should not accept 25% under any circumstances.

He got dropped by Ward and it was flash he wasn't hurt and again Shabranskyy was supposed to be a monster.
