There isn't an explanation; folks have whipped themselves into think that Golovkin (a fighter who's never sold even 150k PPV buys for a fight) and Alvarez (the Amir Khan fight ended up getting to 600k PPV buys, but Alvarez vs non-entity basically sits 300k-350k PPV buys) will fight each other and produce a fight bigger than Floyd-Alvarez.

Floyd and Maidana, when all was said and done, ended up splitting $40m ($36m to Floyd, $4m to Maidana, in essence).

Even if Alvarez-Golovkin gets the fighters $50m, you'd still be splitting the pot $15m to Golovkin, $35m to Alvarez (a 30/70 share on the entire final pie), not a bad deal at all.

I really don't get what there is to complain about. All I hear is some emotional fanboys crying about a split. Even had one arguing that it would be fairer to get a split even if it means he gets less than $15m when it's all said and done.

You've apparently been involved with boxing for long enough to not understand at least that much.

Golden Boy has stated the offer was going to be a fair one, Golden Boy has stated that the offer was north of 8 figures, and Golden Boy has let it be known that the offer was for $15m with some unknown back-end on the fight, and K2 has yet to refute any of what Golden Boy has stated, without even a nary of comment from any background sources.

At some point, you've simply got to acknowledge the fact that K2 is seemingly set on cashing out Golovkin on this one fight, a fight that they're nowhere near as confident in winning than their fans are.

do you even read the garbage you type before you post it? Or are you just a moron?

If K2 s goal was to "cash him out" as you claim, then
why on earth would they turn down this spectacular grandiose amazing remarkable 8-figure offer, and instead ask for a percentage deal that in reality could pay LESS if the fight doesnt reach certain numbers?

        Care to explain that?

        Didnt think so.............

Not to disparage the guy's skills, but Golovkin has emerged at "The Hope" for certain fans; Pacquiao was that hope for the longest time (willfully ignoring all of the sins of Pacquiao, folks were on the verge of deifying the guy in the name of maybe seeing Floyd fall) and no it's Golovkin's time, lol.

"The Hope" can't face the indignity of not having an equal share on the event, regardless of what the actual value is, in the minds of some folks and it's pretty funny.

Because folks, like you, have helped build this aura that Golovkin is indeed this massive superstar who merits the lion's share of the event, at the weight that he's most comfortable at. I've never spoken to the man, but Loeffler's actions would seem to suggest that $15m for the fight is sol low an offer that it isn't worth even debating, which is hilarious.

K2 ran from the Ward fight, K2 ignored Lara, K2 fell apart on the Saunders fight, and the only reason why the Chavez Jr fight was even close to being made, imo, was because Golovkin and Chavez Jr were set to have the same guaranteed purse.

K2 has a pattern of how they do business, and to ignore that would make you a fool

and just because the risk-reward ratio makes sense to YOU (based on knowing only ONE aspect of the deal), that doesnt mean its worth it to the parties involved.....

So you would advise golovkin to turn down 15 million against Canelo on ppv to turn around and fight somebody else for 2 million?
