Because those fighters were established superstars with fan bases and they dont need to settle for less.. khan and Chavez can sell tickets...

Nobody really knows GGG outside of the hardcore circle. How many PPV did he sell again? Lol. That is his market value and team GGG needs to come to terms with that. They dont have much leverage at the negotiation table against canelo..

And, even assuming both guys win, smart money says Golovkin's bargaining position is going to take an even more serious hit after their next fights.

I love the Jacobs/Lil g match-up but I'd be shocked if it does over 200K buys.

Meanwhile, I get the feeling that Canelo/Jr is a lock to be the first boxing PPV that tops a million buys since Floyd boatraced Pac.

      Bad news for K2...

Floyd wasn't an established superstar when he made 15m in pure upside vs Oscar, his best ppv was 350k vs fan favorite Gatti. Hopkins wasn't a superstar when he got upside vs Oscar. Khan and Chavez def weren't superstars when they got upside from Canelo. And neither was a draw like GGG at the time, nevermind all the belts. Get better excuses

Funny enough it never occurred to him that he needs to get away from Arum till it was time to sign for the GGG fight. Worked out pretty great for him eh

We been over this too, man.

I'm not your enemy, you know.

Hell, I know some best friends who would not spend as much time as I have with you trying to coax you into seeing reality better.

Jr. was at the end of his contract and didn't want to re-up.

So Arum dangles the Lil g fight but sticks an extension on the end of it too.

Jr thought he had 40M on the table from Haymon and quite understandably told Flappy Bob to go fugg himself with that extension.

Hindsight is 20/20 and perhaps Jr should have did the extension.

But, at the time he felt he was doing better for himself not signing one.

Had it not gone into court, he may have been right.

There's nobody in boxing that got better promoter treatment than this brat from Top Rank. Cry me a river. Worst decision he ever made, funny enough just when it was time to sign for GGG fight

Not my circus, not my monkeys.

I believe I actually agreed with you last time that, at least in retrospect, Jr may have shat himself on this one.

But at the time, who knew?

Look at the crap Mikey went thru. And Nonito before him.

Good treatment or not, business is business and 40M is 40M.

Cant fault Jr for that IMO.

And it had nothing to do with Golovkin really, except that was the bait Arum was using.

Guess it was all a coincidence. Lots of those when it comes to signing for a GGG fight. Eubank lost his pen just then, for example. Usually ends up with lesser money, worse options for the unlucky guy

And we have been citing times Lil g lost his pen with others as well.

                      It's a business.

You can't talk about guys losing their pens only to ignore other guys (several) not being on someone's radar.
