The comparison with the Mayweather Pacquiao negotiations is false. The wtiter neglected to mention that Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather agreed to a 50\50 revenue split before Pacquiao walked away from negotiations because of a drug testing demand. And years later after Pacquiao had been knocked out and his PPV sells had dwindled Mayweather made an impromptu offer of 40 million over the phone because Bob Arum refused to even speak to Mayweather's team at the time. GGG doesn't even have a PPV track record with only one PPV fight that did not do well. If GGG and his promoter can get the most money out this fight as possible then more power to them. But using Mayweather Pacquiao as a parallel comparison is not an viable way for his case to be stated.

      Good post.

There really is no comparison at all.

And Canelo is nowhere near Floyd's starpower. It's a decent comparison for at least 2 reasons:

        1. Both biggest fights in boxing at the time
        2. That was the only other time someone tried demanding a flat fee for a fight that big. Of course nobody bit, it was a joke offer

The PPV against Jacob's will determine how it gets negotiated.
If it tanks, I suspect hell be taken the 15 flat fee.

If it tanks Canelo should drop the offer to 10. 15 is way too much for someone that can only make $2 mil as an A-side.

If it tanks, expect GBP to yank that offer right off the table.

you think cotto brought most of the ppvs in that fight???
if so no need to discuss anymore...

I think they were co A sides, Canelo offered 55% to Cotto cause Cotto was bringing the belt

canelo certainly does have more spoilers in his path than 3g. if im 3g I want to be that guy, not charlo or whoever. 3g will never see money from an opponent like canelo. not even 3 fights combined.

its sucks that a lot of money is being left on the table for canelo but, those are the perks with being an A side. who knows, maybe gbp ups the amount if canelo bashes in jr.
