I never agreed with all these idiots demanding Golovkin to step up to 168 and fight PfP top 5 Ward in his FIRST fight at 168.
Why not? Mayweather fought Dela Hoya in his first 154 bout, Cotto in his second (after going back to welterweight for a few fights), and Canelo in his third (after having gone back down to welterweight for Guerrero).

He also fought Castillo in his first bout at 135. So why, if Golovkin is as good as you coocksuckers say, could he not move up to fight Andre Ward?

Even Brook fought GGG in his first middlweight bout, and that was after moving up two divisions.

GGG won't even fight a guy one division down like Erislandy Lara, he'd rather continue to crush cans at middleweight.

Last year there was a triple header of Lara vs Vanes Martirosyan, Jermall Charlo vs Austin Trout, and Jermell Charlo vs John Jackson, all incredible title fights.

This year we've already had Jermall Charlo vs Julian Williams, and Andrade will become mandatory to both Lara and Jermell after he beats Culcay, so already right there we are guaranteed to have either Andrade vs Lara or Andrade vs Jermell in 2017.

Then you still got Miguel Cotto and Canelo who are still in the devision and don't forget we got other top contenders like Julian Williams, Jarret Hurd, Eriksen Lubin, and Tony Harrison.

      The division is totally stacked.

      Canelo Alvares
      Erislandy Lara
      Demetrius Andrade
      Miguel Cotto
      Jermall Charlo
      Jermell Charlo
      Julian Williams
      Austin Trout
      John Jackson
      Jarret Hurd
      Tony Harrison
      Eriksen Lubin
      Vanes Martirosyan
      Charles Hartley

Face the music sonny, 154 is way more stacked than 160, it's not even comparable.

Problem with that list is that aside from Canelo and Cotto, nobody cares about anyone else on the list. Canelo has made 154 once in the last 4 years, now fighting at 164.5. Cotto is on the pension tour and is looking to fight a retired Marquez at 150.

Andrade, Trout, Vanes, Lara, they've all been around for years and nobody cares about them. Not saying they aren't good fighters, just that they generate little or no interest even amongst boxing fans. Lara could have elevated himself but he laid an egg against Canelo.

The question is, why doesn't anybody care about a division that is stacked with talent? Why would they care for 160, when that division is garbage compared to 154?

Firstly, because Gennady Golovkin is at 160. And he's arguably the most talked about fighter in the sport today. If he wasn't there probably wouldn't be much interest in it, not until Jacobs stopped Quillin at least.

Secondly, despite ample opportunity the guys at 154 have never made any impact on the public imagination at all. So I would question how good they even are. Just because the division is competitive doesn't mean that it's good. There are a lot of pretty good fighters, but none of them have stood out from the crowd.

Suanders wasn't stepping into the ring at 200. He's talking about what these guys rehydrate to, not what they go to because he's fat.

Last I checked Lemiuex struggled. So what, he's not dragging 168 fighters to 161. I care little if two MW wasn't to fight at SMW

And the thing about Brook is ******, you discount that win, you discount all the times a MW beat a WW, or they fought. Most of the biggest fights were guys coming up from WW. It's because WW have big young guys who get older and can't make weight and gave to go to 160. Spence walks into the ring at 165, said it the other day. Brook too, so spare me the 5 pound outrage. Which is a lot. Never mind Canelo beat Khan, really, Khan.

If GGG is a joke, damn what are you?

Seriously, he retires today he's a HOF. He's unified MW champ and in everyone'S p4p.

Go ahead hate, obviously it doesn't matter to those who write boxing history. Bravo, you've accomplished zero.

???? Who is this??? Not him is what your saying??? I guess this fat *** jogging isn't Saunders??? Can always count on you to make excuses.

Your a dumb ***! Waste a fighters entire camp, MONEY, and TIME but this POS is cool with it???

I'm not sure once they move up they are getting a 160 belt, only Billy Hoe Saunders would get his ass handed, and it still remains to be seen.

I truly thinks at this point Jacobs would punch a hole through those guys, let alone triple.

I'm only giving a serious shot to big bro Jermall, dude is big a$$.
Whatever??? Remember that time when 35 year old Joachim Alcine WON a MW title fighting a Top#5 MW??? I remember??? Here you go since you DON'T!

Few observers gave Joachim Alcine much of a chance to beat rising middleweight prospect David Lemieux, but the 35-year-old showed he can still box.

Alcine (33-2-1) used a strong finish to overtake the flagging 22-year-old Lemieux (25-2), post a majority decision victory and restore his credibility as a top fighter by winning the WBC International middleweight title after a rousing battle between Montreal fighters on Saturday night.

"I had a lot to prove," Alcine said. "Lemieux was much younger than me.

"I'm supposed to be the old man at 35, but I think I have 10 good years ahead of me."

Alcine won the WBA light middleweight title in 2007 but hasn't looked world class since he lost it in a sixth round knockout to Daniel Santos a year later. He had fought only four times since then, and his last two results were a loss and a draw.

Don't forget Spence and Thurman could easily make 154 as well.
