No one would ever take 90/10 and even Floyd vs Pac was not based 100% on past PPV's. A fair offer is what the fight would make and a decent split. Thats why team GGG is asking for a split, based on the fact that the fight could make huge PPV sales. Canelo cant do those numbers and neither can GGG against anyone but themselves. If there is a split I guarantee you it will be more like 70/30 or 65/35.

Yes but the ceiling is not that high. You can't be the face of boxing as an ethnic attraction,you gotta cross over some. Canelo was all set up for success but that duck rep is dragging him down. Indeed Gggs fan appeal is more organic, agree there.

Canelo can have an extremely lucrative career without Golovkin. He is under no obligation to give him the fight or make concessions in negotiations.

Totally concur about the joke fight part, tho there are some signs Jr is actually taking this seriously. Probably won't matter tho.

Joke or not, it is going to do well, and not just with Mexican fans.

This is big man vs little man stuff, with an iconic boxing name mixed in. Both men hugely popular even in spite of the shortcomings.

This is going to be the largest PPV in a while, trust that.

That's not saying much, Ppvs have suffered lately. Chavez is not very popular anymore, his numbers have stunk since he bolted from HBO to avoid GGG. His last fight wasn't even on Us TV. There's also a ton of overlap in their fanbase. It'll do well but not that well.

If Canelo wanted the fight, they would've fought one of the 2 times last year he said he would fight. He ducked the fight instead.
If he really wanted the fight, he would be fighting GGG in May of this year.

I chose to believe what Schafer, Arum, Marquez and others have said about the flat fee. I chose to believe that GGG's team AS WELL AS Canelo's team knows what is best for their fighter and what happens is beyond the understanding of anyone here, including you. And if they settle on a flat fee or a split, that is a reality that has nothing to do with what people think here is fair or not or what will happen. That is what I choose to believe. You are not inside of Canelo or GGG's team and neither am I so whatever agreement they land on if they do - it is what it is, fair or not.

I never said 15 mill was totally unthinkable. Go back and read all my posts. If GGG's team think it is fair - it is fair, and if they dont think it is fair, then it is not and that is THEIR choice, not yours, not mine, not any of these last minute wannabe boxing financial experts here. The ONLY thing that matters is what both teams think is fair and decides on or moves on. Hooting and blowing smoke isnt going to change any financial negotiations that take place.
