throwing a left hook behind his right hand
cutting off the ring instead of allowing ward to circle where he wants
being consistent with his jab as the fight wears on
being more aggressive comes with a price.....you get hit more and less in the tank for later in the fight
there are definitely tactical things he can do to improve his performance and its deeper than stamina and throwing shots...i doubt he can get in better shape than he was in fight one
when he was backing ward up and held his ground he did well....when the right was close quarters he sunk...he definitely could use a sparring partner with inside game nuances. Boxing is about making adjustments

What can kov do IN THE RING to Beat ward....
Adjustments, changes, etc
So kov initiated no clinches kmsl
Kovalev had no answer for the inside work and attempted to bully the smaller man, he yielded his biggest advantage IMO. If Kovalev had a superior inside game with his superior strength he'd have won but he elected to tie up and nullify his own potential to score when it mattered most.
Ward just has more dimensions to his game, it's evident from November, I'm not sure what Kovalev can do different as when he tried up his work rate he became flustered and grew more complacent like in the tenth when things clearly did not go his way, that really showed to me who was bossing the tighter action and having the last word not to mention who was missing more widely and winging his loaded shots desperately trying to rely on the one thing he's relied on throughout his career, his power. Ward had an answer to everything Virg deserves the kudos here though for me, listen to every time the action cuts to the corner, Virg stirred something deep inside only he can in Ward.

none he won.
would love to see him knock ward out which is high likely which is why ward is ducking and rather retire than to make some money.

ward can't even crack an egg and all of the sudden he works the body like julio cesar chavez?
kovalev's only mistake was to try to outwrestle ward, that tired him up. ward didn't do much but the same exact thing the entire fight, he adjusted doe.....
i even read a guy that posted that kovalev needed the ropes to stay on his feet at the end of the fight.... the rewritting of history has beggun
