Ward cannot fight again unless Kovy takes another fight. If Kovy fights again it voids Ward's mandatory rematch. That is why you hear nothing but *****ing from Kovy/Duva trying to pressure Ward to a rematch because they know Ward won't fight them again outside of this rematch clause.

Anyhow, Duva/Kovy just need to bow to Ward's demands if they actually want the rematch. Otherwise Ward will wait it out and Kovy will eventually move on. No rematch will be possible after that since there will be far too much bad blood by then.

Nonetheless I do find it a strange coincidence that HBO wanted to host the rematch in June ALL ALONG...and now, recently, we hear that Ward's camp has reserved Vegas in June. Nobody else finds this a bit ironic? The fight is going to happen, plain and simple

Isaac, take no notice of Freedumb. Even that one prediction out 1000 that he thinks he got right, will be wrong.

      Ward-Kovalev 2 will happen.

What I WAS saying, is that you can't simply just dismiss the fact this guy is clearly holding belts hostage by not starting negotiations sooner. Kovalev being on vacation is obviously a moot point, NEITHER fighter has to be present at the negotiating table in order for negotiations to take place. That's what they PAY MANAGERS FOR. As for Ward, unless he and his team have plans to have their next fight, or the rematch, take place over in the UK, he should be trying to reach out to and appeal more to American boxing fans. Which in the business/political world we refer to as a "base".

I spoke of honor and honesty as a boxing fan, I was VERY clear about that. That said, one can speak from an HONEST standpoint and still address the business aspect of the sport. So I don't understand what point you were trying to make there. The bottom line is Ward's people could've began negotiating much sooner, even if Ward wasn't planning on fighting again until sometime this summer/fall. Again, the fight doesn't have to take place right away, but negotiations can and should have at least started already.

You really shouldn't attempt to belittle or talk down to people if you don't really know what you're talking about.
SO I was actually at the last fight and there was a European contingent there. I sat next to 2 guys from Scotland and boxing is obviously more popular there than in the us. So yes, marketing (even in the U.K.) matters. Meanwhile kovalev was on vacation not marketing the fight, and marketing matters.

Ward wants to get at least the same amount for this bout as he did as the underdog and as of right now, the fight with its present clamor won't get him that purse, so marketing matters. Also diehard boxingscene fans (myself included) are not where his increased revenue will come from nor is it more oaklanders, it's casuals it's people who will travel in, so again marketing matters. These are clear points and there shouldn't be confusion, kovalev wants to fight out of passion and emotion, but he's not addressing the business side. As a true boxing fan I understand your sentiment, but as a father and a entrepreneur I understand the concept of maximizing your gains which seems to be wards goal

Im a ward fan and supported him prior to this fight and picked him to win. I dont like how hes acting though now. He barely managed to get a win in a very close fight and hes walking around with his chest out taking subtle jabs at kov as if he dominated him or something. Fight could have gone either way. He seems super hesitant about a rematch as well. Either retire like you said or give the man his damn rematch stop ****ing around i have to keep it real and unbiased.
