He may be completely at peace with retiring to a rewarding career as a broadcaster. Still he is not that old and in his late prime. He is younger than Kovalev. For him to deny Kovalev a return match will leave a bad taste with many of today's fans who know the situation. Even 20 years from now some fans will still think he chickened out of a rematch.

As a Ward fan if he doesnt rematch Kovalev then he tarnishes his career

Ward says: ‘There is only one fight left that interests me. A rematch with Kovalev. If it happens the second fight will be more difficult for him than the first.
‘If not, well, I really love broadcasting. I am still in the thick of it all. Mixing with boxers and the fans from the best seat in the house. Without getting punched myself.’
Doesn't sound like leverage. The "if not, well..." bit shows he's not arsed and doesn't care about legacy or reputation.

So tired of people here begging for the rematch. So what if it was a close fight, it doesn't mean anything, real fans want to see their favorite fighter to look for new challenges. Ward already got the win in the resume, he doesn't need a rematch
Most of the fans predicted Ward UD and that's exactly what happened, so there's no reason to watch it again

Let's not confuse things, Ward will only fight for what he feels is his worth. He took 18 months of his career out to break free of a contract he felt did not pay him his worth, ultimately he failed but it shows you the lengths upon which he will go to to get what he feels is just. Ward is slowly becoming an anti hero, that type of fan base f@gots tune in to hope you lose, with talk like this all I believe he is dohng is alienating them further, it's all psychological but I'm of the belief this is more a message to Kovalev than the fans.
Larry should know better than to post this stuff, for me he is one of the posters I hold in high regard on this site and their is some typical fan boy shyt here without really having read between the lines.

So I guess their is a little substance to what you're saying but come on those rounds were exceptionally tight, ones I scored to Ward but my definition of schooling i believe differs from your own.
BTW I scored the fight to Ward, I was not particularly rooting for anyone rather than a clear out an out winner I could parade and cherish as a pound for pound numero uno, I'm a huge fan of both, I believe a rematch would be a wider decision to Ward and would be welcome as to establish without doubt who the number one in the sport is. Make no bones about it, had Kovalev have won that fight we'd have heard nothing since except Kovalev is the best in the sport, because he lost Ward isn't and it's still the Nicaraguan midget, go figure.
Just because Dan Rafael says something don't mean it's true, that guy should pay more attention to sugar and salt content of what he's gorging on as opposed to claiming to know how to score fights, I know you're reading this Dan, you fat simple fück you can't block me on here. Same goes for Max Kellerman too, you wanna learn how to score a fight go become a judge, all these half witted morons who let the commentary team determine who's won he fight for them because they're too fückin lazy to score a fight themselves with a pencil and paper.Last edited by Jewish-Reptile; 02-04-2017, 04:21 AM.
