Like as if Thurman's punches weren't blocked. There were a lot of blocked punches from Thurman also. Porter had more moments in than Thurman, especially when Thurman kept on shelling up against the ropes counter punching from here and then sloppily. Porter Smothered Thurman's work on the inside and made his punches sloppy, while Porter landed the harder shots inside. Porter did good in the center of the ring, but Thurman was better, but Porter outclassed Thurman on the inside.
Just Rewatched Porter vs Thurman. Gave it to Porter

I have watched that fight about 6 times and it really is a tough fight to score. I've edged Thurman more times than not though.Comment

And does running count? In that round porter punched him in the gut and chased him around, and cornered him for him to do the inside work, while Thurman refused to fight back in order to recover from the body shot. So how do you win a round by doing nothing?Comment

He always does that and that's why I can't be a fan of him. He stifles his punches, and never fights at the proper range to have the maximum affect on his punches.Comment

I don't think you actually watched the fight or that round for that matter. You're talking as if Thurman ran the whole round and didn't land anything on Porter. Even the commentators said "close round." According to you the round was a whitewash in Porter's favor though.Comment

I had him winning too man. It's the modern curse of the inside fighter. Thurman's punches were landed from the outside and they were nice counters. That's what people see and remember, especially when aided by the conveniently one-sided replays, coupled with crowd reactions for more effect.115-113 for Shawn Porter. I saw that Porter Manhandled Thurman all night in that fight. Thurman couldn't handle Porter's physical strength and left him himself too many times on the inside to Shawn Porter.

Thurman was just manhandled too many times in the ropes that allowed Porter to work on the inside with body shots and upper cuts. Even though Thurman counterpunches really well, Porter smothered Thurman's work that it doesn't have much leverage.Comment

The fight was fought more on the inside and on the ropes than it was at the center of the ring. While Porter did good, but Thurman did better on the center. Porter crushed Thurman on the inside, bullying him against the ropes.I had him winning too man. It's the modern curse of the inside fighter. Thurman did had some nice moments, but it wasn't enough for Porter's work rate on the inside. Short inside punches wasn't counted, but all we had is replays of Thurman catching porter with nice shots in the center of the ring while blatantly ignoring the inside work of porter in the ropes.Comment
