Wait, the guy that we're discussing, turned his back and stopped fighting because of the beating he was taking by Lara.

Now I don't know if it's GGG's kryptonite, but I know he has a far greater chance than a lot of fighters at 160 & 154 do. He has respectable pop in his left, he can move, he's not as easy as people like to make it seem.. BUT ANGULO DOE!

or did I miss something in that fight?
You can look at flaws in a fighter even if they win. It just happens that many of the flaws that Lara showed vs Angulo, match up badly with the strengths that GGG has.

GGG is literally three levels above Angulo.

Literally GGG wants runners so that he could chase around in the ring, cut their escape point in the corner and attack them with carefully placed shots in the body and head and end them.

It has been known that it's better to fight back against GGG with combos rather than 1-2 run, 1-2 run. So why still hold on the delusion that Lara's style beats GGG's?
GGG Vs Lara is Tiger Vs, Chicken, It's unfair not a good match up.

I get it.. He went straight back, got caught and dropped. He still made the man quit. A man that took care of Rosado in better fashion that ggg did.

IDK, maybe it's me but I don't get caught up in triangle type theories. I'm sure Lara knows GGG will be a lot more dangerous than Angulo, so I think he won't throw caution to the wind.

This is what I don't get. People act like he took an L against Angulo. He got up off the canvas and stopped Angulo. If this were any other fighter he'd be called a warrior. The guy has fought everybody with a B.S. loss against Wiliams and a controversial loss against Canelo. I can't for the life of me understand why GGG fans are so opposed to this fight. GGG will most likely win but it would be a great gauging of his skills against a top level fighter and common opponent of Canelo.

I'm a fan of Lara and I try not to be bias. Hence, why I think ggg would still win. Even w/ that, this would be an interesting fight for ggg. How will he approach Lara who has enough pop, rangy, moves well and has legit capabilities of spoiling or even frustrating ggg a bit?

Will he play it safe and slowly defeat him w/ a jab like he did Lemmy, or will ggg take some shots like he did vs Brook to win in that manner? IDK, I think this would be a good contrast of styles if it were made. I still would favor ggg, but certainly not by much. AND IDC how many times people want to bring up Angulo.. Angulo quit, turned his back and gave up in that fight.

And also, GGG has gone to the championship rounds. Murray put him in the 11th round and GGG was still energetic and knocked him out. But I'm still not sure, there weren't many body punches to GGG so that would be left out.

TBH also, I want Lara vs GGG to happen more than Canelo vs GGG.
Lara nullifying GGG's offense through jabbing, body work and movement gives him the best chance to win. Running is what ODH did with Tito the last 4 rounds where he avoided all contact and didn't throw.

GGG would be favored and I would think he'd win. That said, if you can use your length and speed to neutralize or nullify your opponents best weapon that gives you a good chance to win.

There are only a few people who actually think that Lara gives Golovkin problems. The vast majority just see Lara 'calling out Golovkin' and parrot whatever he says.

IMO Lara gets destroyed by Golovkin in 5. Wilson Kayden did a great analysis of Monroe vs. Golovkin fight. He shows that movers are not successful against Golovkin.

On top of that, Lara loves shelling up when caught against the ropes. If you watched Martirosyan vs. Lara last May, you saw how many brutal liver shots Vanes was landing on Lara on the ropes. Replace light punching 154 Vanes with heavy handed Golovkin and Lara gets TKOd with broken ribs in no time.

There is absolutely nothing in Lara's record that would indicate he would have a chance in hell of beating GGG or even giving him a good fight. He has a draw with average fighter Molina and a disputed loss to Williams. He had to get up from TWO knock downs and come from behind to beat slow, crude bummy Angulo. He ran all fight from Canelo and never once hurt him.He has no power that would bother GGG. If he ran from Canelo just imagine how he would run from GGG. GGG would crush guys like Williams, Molina and Angulo and he would crush Lara. For all his talk about fighting GGG Lara has yet to beat any middleweight. Jacobs would knock Lara out.

what you're missing is how frequently and how easily angulo, a fighter who boxes like his boxing boots are soaking wet, or stuck in the mud, was able to get lara to the ropes. you also seem to to think that being on the ropes for any period of time is safe for lara, which is again wrong. angulo not only got him to back up and set his feet, but he got to the body and slowed him down. he did this without much of a jab to speak of, very little head movement, just an all around poorer game than golovkin's.

couple in golovkin's accuracy, power and it's not going to be a shock to any of us when lara is a major dog, and picked to lose via knockout to most of the pundits.

heck, freddy hernandez and vanes have both had lara on the ropes and have gotten to his body. one exchange like that in the golovkin fight and lara will be a completely different fighter.

you need to go back and watch the fight if you think lara was just caught twice. he was systematically placed there, broken down with body shots that dropped his hands, and he was dropped hard by a past prime guy who literally does nothing better than golovkin and who hardly has a jab. golovkin does a european thing where he waves the jab / lead hand in front of you to control your body. then he drops the jab or hooks off of the jab if you're heading to his left, and he can put the right hand behind it if you head to the right. the only real option is to fire back with a combination or step back. lara does the latter every time, ends up on the ropes, and eventually ends up on his back.

5-7 rounds. no more. probably less.
