You can call it the cost of business for guys like Smith, but I just call it taking advantage of the fighter.

Algieri specifically didn't seem to even grasp the f#ckery he signed on for til it was too late from what I can recall from his story so I'd assume there are more cats like him than unlike him in that way.

And thats not to defend Algieri for not doing his due diligence with his contract details, but then again I can't not sh^t talk the guy whos taking advantage of people who've likely never seen the kinda money most of these guys are seeing for the first time nor have an attorney or even know how to go about getting an attorney to check out their contract to fully understand the details of it.

So that being the case f#ck Star Boxing.

I hope he gets more than the $140,000 he got for the Hopkins fight. But he doesn't seem to care. He views himself as a construction worker who has been picking up some extra cash at this stage still. If he KO's Stevenson...which is not entirely impossible...he will be making it to the big dollar paydays soon enough.

Smith loves being the underdog. Having said that, Adonis keeps cherry picking limited skilled punchers. Wonder if Storm will ever get his shot.

You knew Ward or Stevenson was going to try and get a fight with Smith jr., someone they see as an easy win for big money.

Adonis should win but he hasn't been too active and Smith Jr. appears to hit like a Mack truck.

This has all the makings of a cherry pick gone wrong. Not to mention we have a Haymon associated fighter in against an up and coming white prospect.

This fight should cause a number of discussions, debates, threads and posts here on NSB, sadly for all the wrong reasons.

I'm going to go ahead and pick the upset, Smith Jr. by TKO late maybe round 10 or 11 if the fight gets signed.

It seems crazy not to make Smith Jr vs. Monaghan ASAP

I'm surprised this fight is even discussed. I thought Adonis Stevenson was the type of guy who stays away from legit opponents or even semi-legit opponents.

He is up there in age in comparison to the norm if you're speaking the average athlete. I like this. Joe Smith is a guy who's earned the right after supposedly being a stepping stone for other fighters to shine.

Rooting for this guy in whatever fight he may get next.

I like this fight. But I agree that Smith should go for Monaghan first though. Monaghan has a big following in LI and from what I've seen Smith is a better fighter....so concievably, Smith can grab all of Monaghan's fans and command more money for a Stevenson fight after he knocks out Monaghan.

I also think we might be wrong assuming Smith wants some big pay days so he can quit his construction job. He is in a union in New York. If he works enough years to get a pension, that is a nice deal...professional boxers don't get pensions.

I like the fight, didn't mean to come off like I didn't. Joe has earned his shot I agree.

Hopefully this is the first of big paydays. I mean it will probably be on showtime and a sellout in Ny
