No ****. I'd say at least 75-80% of the people who bought his PPVs were doing so because they wanted to see him lose. Funny seeing the fanboys in this thread try to vehemently argue otherwise.

ya theres absolutely no doubt this is the case. its not the only reason but there is no doubt it helped. mcgregor is using mayweathers blueprint to a t. its kinda funny that the same people that hated mayweather love mcgregor for literally the same antics and people say mcgregor style is more entertaining bla bla bla but we all know its the character they really like. if u really put it together and cant see that mcgregor is copying mayweather as far as sellin himself u are blind. while more people like mcgregor he also has his fair share of haters as well. mma has pretty much stole mayweathers blueprint

haters and doubters are without a doubt what fueled mayweather into a mega star and also fueled the careers of people like pacquiao. anyone people thought had any chance to beat mayweather got an extreme boost in fans

Mcgregor's popularity is far more fueled by his charisma and trash talk than it is him flaunting his wealth.

And it's the character they love, but his style IS far more entertaining. Just look at his KO ratio and how quickly he shuts them out.

So on a side note. Dana White & C McGregor claim other than the Pacquiao fight he have all the records. Yet he haven't had a fight with 2 million buy rates and never had a gate of $22 to $72 million. They both lie more than a politician at election time.

This is very much so true. In a few hours, this comment section will have at least 150 comments with over 100 of them talking about how he's a ducker, boring, woman-beater, etc. Dislike (I try not to use the word hate) fueled his massive financial success. Other people are trying to do the same thing as they cash out (see Andre Ward). The major difference is that nowadays, many of these guys are trying to do it without nearly the level of resume that FMJr had. If you can't win them over with your skill, make them hate you so they can pay your bills. You need that "it" to get the highest paydays...

This is not true. He has high PPV numbers because of his opponents fan base.

His biggest PPVs- DLH, Canelo, Pac- are ALL fights a lot of folks thought he'd finally get his comeuppance in.

No question Jeff is speaking facts here.
