Such silliness. It was a close fight. Dr Rumack says he can't see an argument for either guy winning the fight, which would usually result in a draw, if the judges are of this opinion. I think the opposite: A case could be made for either guy winning this fight. I thought Ward won but I would hardly complain if the judges gave it to Kovalev.

people are butthurt for so many reasons: first, there were such hopes that Kovalev would crush Ward. Well no matter whom you think won the fight that didn't happen did it? People also think Ward got better treatment by the judges...well, either way it was a close fight. And people thought that Kovalev as the champ should get preferencial treatment...But this was not a fight with an age old champ against an up and comer. Both men came in as champions and there is no written rule that the champ gets the close one...it is an unwritten law regarding a challenger (clearly defined as such) and an established fighter (champ), so it does not apply.

Ward is pissed because he feels like boxing fans are fickle with him. The guy has accomplished a lot and is a hell of a fighter whether one likes his style or not.

To Kovalev fans I say this: If Kovalev was so good, knowing the judges are fickle, as all fighters do, why didn't he turn the gas on, go after Ward and knock him down again? That would have won him the fight wouldn't it have? During the first Holyfield Lewis fight, when Lewis was robbed by the judges, Holy said something I never forgot. he told Lewis and his fans that if Lewis was winning so well, so much in control, so much better....why didn't he finish Holyfield?

Great fighters, especially great punchers, put an exclamation point on their victories. When Joe Louis got you in trouble, you were probably going down. What if Louis had backed off from Conn? When Tyson had you going backwards, you were going to get attacked with everything that wasn't tied down in the ring.

If Kovalev is such a fearsome puncher, why couldn't he at least go after and knock Ward down again? Or show the judges some indication that a flash knockdown on a good punch was not the most he could hurt a fellow great fighter?

What demographic am I supposed to be exactly? You have literally suggested all people who thought Kovalev won are somehow racist.

This might shock you but I wanted Ward to win the fight!

The Ward haters are crying about the uncertainty of a rematch failing to realize the first fight only took place a little over a month ago. If Ward is offered similar money for the rematch and declines then he deserves the scrutiny.

It's almost like certain fans don't want the rematch to take place......
he just got out of the ring with him and hes a coward. im trying to figure that one out myself

You tell them Ward, It was a close fight. Kov should of stepped on the gas when he scored the KD.

I know my posts are long winded and I know most individuals do not have the desire, the time, and often enough the cognitive ability, to read things in a discerning manner. Here is the paragraph of the post you are referring to, notice the bold section:

To Kovalev fans I say this: If Kovalev was so good, knowing the judges are fickle, as all fighters do, why didn't he turn the gas on, go after Ward and knock him down again? I won't go into a detailed explanation of the epistemological logic of a proposition independent of context because you have the intelligence to understand such a thing: For example, I doubt the proposition "never tell a lie" would stop you for a new york second, from smiling when your grandmother hands you a birthday present of a pink polka dotted tie that she spent all day picking out for you and asks you "what do you think of it?"

I reread your post. You really believe that because of the specifics regarding the judges, that the point Holyfield made, is wrong? One knock on Lewis has always been that he never went after opponents. The fact that he lost that fight may have been wrong but it still represents a weakness in Lewis.

What you (and Chilemba) did do, was make "The Krusher" look like a B-level fighter. However, in the process you made yourself look like a B-level fighter! Not a good look! So even if you decide to rematch, you definitely loss one PPV customer over here! Good Luck Champ!
u think that has anything to do with the fact hes aging and went up in weight to fight the best guy in the division? was he supposed to blow him out? Kov is a very good fighter I don't understand the Logic around here... I knew we saw the best of ward once I saw the berrera fight but it happens its life hes still a great fighter. u wouldn't buy the rematch because the fight was close? its 2 of the best in the world what did u guys want? every fight isn't gonna be pretty he found a way to win
