Honestly, I thought Roy's comment was pretty annoying. It only became "iconic" because its been embedded on our brains since we have to hear it every time we watch the knockout. Anyone could have said anything after that knockout, and it would have become iconic simply because it happened during an iconic moment.

Roy's comment was on point. It represented reality's clash with hope, what with Lampley saying "Will Pacquiao get up."

You know that for a matter of seconds millions hoped he would get up. Roy's words came as the realisation set in.

Memorable because of what happened straight after:

Tim Lane: "I'll tell you after. He's gonna put him to sleep here in a few minutes. I'm gonna let him go in one more round. I've got him in the cage right now. I'm gonna let him out the cage."

Max Kellerman: "The plan is to have Algieri knock Pacquiao out?"

Tim Lane: "Yes. But I still got him in the cage. He listens to me very well. I'm gonna let him loose in a round or so."

              Max Kellerman: "Round 10?"

Tim Lane: "Round 10 or 11, I'm gonna let him go."

Not so much a call, but one of the most memorable commentary lines for me was when Merchant said to Jones, "We can disagree Roy, without having to pull rank."

I actually keep that one in my list of quotes and affirmations.

This was said during the Barrera vs Hamed live fight. HBO took it out during the replay the following week.

Lampley: "Prince Hamed told us, and every writer that would listen before the fight, that if he loses, its' because it has been written by Allah, the 12 rounds you've seen here, suggest that Allah, knows how to spell Barrera, B A R R E R A"

                    George Foreman: "inaudible on that"

Lampley: "Can there be any doubt? ... tremendous celebration in Barrera's corner, and Prince Naseem is wandering around, aimlessly in his own. ...... round 12 was all Barrera, by compubox numbers he landed 33 out of 66, Hamed only 7 of 20. Of course there was a point deduction against Barrera for this (slamming him against the ring post) I don't think he likes him George.

George Foreman: I don't think you like him much yourself Jim.

Lampley: I like him fine. I think I I have no problem with Naz.

George Foreman: You said some things I don't think you like him. You should be careful yourself.

Larry Merchant had some great one liners in his time.

Five minutes into Nas' entrance against Kevin Kelley:

"That's what I like. British understatement."
