This one is different and not really related to this thread. It was during the buildup and the fight between Stevens and Lemieux. I was hoping one of the commentators or Lemieux would mention it.

During their twitter trash talk before the fight.

Lemieux: Stevens will not last 5 rounds in my world

Stevens: You P*ssy, the fight will only go 2.5 rounds.

Then the fight happened and it lasted 2.5 rounds LOL

Larry Merchant was often cringe-worthy in his later years (likely after the fun of alcohol finally wore off with his youth), but he had many poignant moments.
One such I recall from Gatti/Ward I near the end of the fight, Steward says: "it's as if they're not even human", to which Merchant replies: "it's because they're human that makes it so special"
That exchange was so effortlessly meaningful, and was the first time I thought about this sport from a new set of coordinates.
