OMG I cant believe you, this thread is about Floyd and you just chimed in to hate on GGG. You're obsessed, Im pretty sure you have GGG's poster up in your secret boxing shrine hidden behind a wall in your closet.

what more could fmj have done?

he could have not ducked out when the division was heating up, put health 2nd, and fought:

      prime margarito
      prime mosley
      closer to prime pac
      cotto beast mode
      Williams @ 147

His resume is impressive regardless but on paper it's ridiculous.

In 20 years time the new fans will look back and see that Mayweather was 5 weight champion, 4 of which Lineal, beat 10 fighters ranked #1 in the divison being fought in and beat 7 fighters ranked in the Top 10 P4P, 20 odd world champions beaten.

Like I said, on paper it's a recipe to get overrated.

But obviously Floyd is one of the ATG's anyway.
And yet people call this man a cherry picker and said he took no risks..then i ask them who is their current favorite fighter and why and they get quiet...It is ridiculous..hell just say you dont like the man and leave it at that

Prime Margo fight didnt happen due to Arum, Floyd wanted a guaranteed shot at Oscar and Arum said it wasnt in the cards

Prime Mosley did not give Floyd a shot and Floyd had been calling him out since Floyd was at 135..it is well documented

Prime Pac refused drug testing and the fight was scapped in 2010..also well documented

Cotto was at the Gatti fight and hi team said he was not ready for Floyd..after that Cotto himself said he never chased a Floyd fight

Williams-when was that fight even possible to be honest??

why is Floyd always blamed for fights not happening even when he clearly was chasing certain fights? and then people act like when he fought those fighters he himself did not age and was even older then Pac and Cotto...They were all champions when he fought them and most were even on top of the p4p list

Floyd had an incredible career. Only gripe I have is that he retired for awhile while Cotto, Margarito, and Williams looked great. I would've loved for him to fight those guys after his Oscar or Hatton victory.

I don't blame him solely on the Pacquiao fight not happening for so long, there were too many cooks in that kitchen and both wanted to be the A-side. Both refused to budge on their demands.

The question was what more could Floyd have done to enhance his legacy.

He could have fought those fighters listed. Post Hatton and ODLH, Floyd was a huge star and up there in the top 2 draws in the sport (iirc, behind ODLH until a bit later on). Are you suggesting he couldnt have got Marg, Cotto, Williams etc in the ring post ODLH/Hatton?

Dont be ridiculous. Floyd was the money man at WW. A huge PPV star. You are bringing up stuff from when he was barely a moderate draw and was firmly in the high risk/moderate reward category.

The Margarito debacle was pre those fights.

But you're right a Margarito fight after he beat Cotto would have been a big fight.

Cotto pre Margarito and post Hatton (Mid 2008) would have been massive.

Williams was never really a real option.

                    Blame Arum

Williams didn't have anything Floyd...no title or anything.

It would have been a small window to fight Williams tbf. Either Williams or Quintanta would have been an option for Floyd if he was fighting in that period as they held the WBO.

Cotto, Pac and Margarito are the big ones.

That was a pretty good WW mix and i feel Floyd missed it. Or at least got onto it late enough that the sheen was gone. Its definitely a miss on his resume in my eyes

Edit: Also forgot Clottey in this. He was a bit of a serial loser vs the top guys, but he was a tough mofo, with decent skills. Maybe not much as an individual name, but he was a part of that group
