um hbo came out and said they would not block the fight..but kathy acted like she didnt know that before hand..there is not excsue..your man saw a big payday with a washed up pascal as a better and easier fight for him..he was right...it's cool..just quit acting like the other fighter didnt want to get his hands on him!

"On Jan. 23, Kovalev promoter Kathy Duva of Main Events and Stevenson promoter Yvon Michel of GYM agreed via email to the terms and the revenue splits between them.

The next day, the two got on the telephone with Peter Nelson, the director of programming for HBO Sports, and the threesome agreed on the financial aspects of a deal. It would include Kovalev facing Cedric Agnew, a bout that will be held on HBO in Atlantic City on Saturday, and Stevenson meeting Andrzej Fonfara on May 24, with Stevenson and Kovalev then meeting in the fall.

It's at this point that the stories begin to differ. Michel said that he recommended that Stevenson take the deal HBO offered, but said Stevenson, who at the time was operating without a manager, declined. An attorney who was helping Stevenson at the time, Michel said, also recommended he accept.

Not long afterward, Stevenson hired Al Haymon, the high-powered manager with the ever-increasing stable. And it was from there that the deal to pit Stevenson and Kovalev crumbled."

look all that is point..he wanted 100k extra to stay on hbo..hbo refused that..he didnt have a tv deal after that bellew fight..

This isn't a Kovalev vs Stevenson thing to me (granted it probably is a Kovalev vs Stevenson for most cats ****ting on one guy or the other). This is a Stevenson isn't fighting anyone lately thing. And its not 2014 anymore.



Again this isn't about any particular fight not happening. Its about no interesting fights happening for Stevenson since Fonfara.

Stevenson keeps going for low hanging fruit instead of the best available contender. And thats not even a problem necessarily if it was a one time thing or every other fight thing like is all the rage among top boxers these days. Problem is Stevenson has been fighting bs fight after bs fight after bs fight. I watch boxing for entertainment not to see a talented guy fight also rans & Stevenson is a talented guy who I don't hate his chances vs anyone in the division, but all he fights lately are also ran mfers.

fonfara wasnt more touted than thomas williams jr so how could u say since fonfara?? fonfara had never been seen until that fight..where as thomas had 3 huge ko's in a row all on TV...

like i said it is hard to get the fights ppl want when a man is running and lying on you and ppl accept it.

beterbiev turned down kov and wont mention stevenson..so wat do you want him to do? he supposed to break network lines for a shabranskyy, but cant even do it for a kovalev? get real man

and michel did nt recommend anything..THEY ALL WANTED TO STAY ON HBO..hence negotiating untile the last minute..hence dropping their asking price every time hbo told them no...hbo told michel that "you have no other options" they thought showtime was broke after spending on floyd...WELL THEY WERE WRONG..and they fired their entire staff soon after...SO MAYBE U SHOULD STOP HATING HAYMON AND STEVENSON..and look at the supremacy PR group also known as HBO and recognize their F'ups

Kovalev fought Sillakh on a Stevenson doubleheader in Canada with the agreement they would fight next. It was Stevenson who jumped ship. And this resulted in a lawsuit that got dropped and resulted in Kovalev vs Hopkins.
This is before the WBC garbage YOU are referring to.

when u see those words understand the **** held no merit..
stevenson didnt have an hbo deal after that fight so their agreement means absolutely nothing..
but haymon, michel, and hbo were meant to put up 100k each to keep him on hbo..HBO SAID NO...
later they were all fired..
the lawsuit had nothing to do with kov and hopkisn..hopkins is not with michel or haymon.

Man a few years ago I wasn't sure, but everything Adonis has done/said since then fits with the theory that he's scared of Kovalev. He wasn't chasing those titles at all when Kovalev had them. He even called out Ward a few years ago instead of Kovalev even when Ward was at 168, and Kov was the champ in his own weight class. But now suddenly Ward gets a robbery decision, and Adonis wants to pretend Ward won and suddenly chase Ward when he had no interest in calling out Kovalev the whole time.

Stevenson is such a crappy champ.

Great Post and may I add that if ward retires and doesn't rematch Kovalev.....well actions speak louder than words....many boxing fans have seen this play before (where a certain boxer retires when the division is hot)....at this point chickenson is trying to remain relevant.....Kov and Ward just Headlined a ppv.

Yawn this guy needs to retire and stop holding up the division. I was excited for him after he stopped Bellew and decisioned Fonfara. Since then he's done jacks*** and that is a fact. He never wanted Kovalev and fled to Haymon with his tail between his legs to get away from that fight that is a fact.
