If PBC had belts would you respect / acknowlege them over the Alpphabet titles?

OK, good point. I just prefer it as it was when I got into the sport.

The positive side to there being PBC belts would be they would be easy as hell to explain what they mean to an average person.

Try to explain any of the alphabets to a random person who is not inclined to know a bit about boxing you lose them in like 10 words. Their rankings are meaningless and beyond impossible to explain.

It really does simplify a lot.

Nothing in boxing is easy to explain to the layman, casual fan.

It's like there aren't even rules which puzzles the hell out of people.

That to me is the biggest problem with boxing, it take immense effort just to understand the sport. You can't casually know what is going on in boxing, you have to put in real effort for something that is impossible to talk about with most people.

It is fun to be in the know, but damn that is only so gratifying.

Right now the US networks recognize FOUR WORLD CHAMPIONS in SEVENTEEN DIVISIONS.

If all of the US networks except for HBO suddenly recognized ONE WORLD CHAMPION in TWELVE DIVISIONS instead of 4 in 17, yes that would be a good thing.

As far as the best fighting the best, the #1 and #2 super middleweights in the world are headlining a PBC card 1/14 to unify the WBC & IBF world championships.

The #1 and #5 featherweights in the world are headlining a PBC card 1/28 for the super WBA world championship.

On 3/4, the undefeated WBA and undefeated WBC welterweight world champions are headlining a PBC card.

              Seems you're just grumpy.

No, the point is the top fighters in each division would have no choice but to fight each other and fight for the belt. It takes years before they do. Right now they fight their own individual fights and doesn't want anything to do with each other. Lara, for example, is fighting Yuri Foreman. Why not Andrade, Williams, Jermell or Jermall? It makes no sense.

There should have never been sanctioning body championships to begin with. They only exist because the TV networks forced the promoters to use them. The TV networks felt a "world championship" had more credibility if it was controlled by an independent third party. So all of this power was given to a bunch of incompetent crooks.

It's an antiquated was of operating and US boxing desperately needs a traditional sports league. PBC is the best chance of it ever happening.

The only reason PBC can't flick the switch yet is because it would flood HBO with world titles. But once HBO is out of the game, then PBC can make their big move.

because at this stage of the game, haymon needs to be very careful with knocking off his guys. he's trying to create a monopoly. once HBO is pushed out, then it won't be as risky to match up the top guys more often.

It's brilliant when you think about it, and Haymon could take boxing to the top if he has the lions share of talented fighters in his stable, the relevant belts, and HBO is out of the game. He already has the capital. Boxing would be revamped and united under one banner.
