Nearly every Showtime Championship Boxing card is Haymon vs Haymon. Garica? Haymon. Thurman? Haymon. Jack? Haymon. Degale? Haymon. Frampton? Haymon. Santa Cruz? Haymon. Cuellar? Haymon. Mares? Haymon.

Plus Showtime's sister station Spike is paying for Haymon vs Haymon fights on every broadcast as well

How many HBO World Championship Boxing cards in 2017 will be DLH vs DLH or Arum vs Arum? A few each. The HBO promoters are being starved off. And their fighters can't find opponents because while HBO has the biggest stars, Haymon has everybody else! So Arum/K2/GB have to over pay for Haymon clients just to make fights. And they only get guys that had nowhere to go anyway.

GB paid huge money to get Khan, a guy who was basically irrelevant in the PBC picture anyway. K2 paid huge money to get Jacobs, a guy in a division that Haymon had no interest in anyway. There was nothing left to do with Jacobs regardless.

You're right that Bob won't go quietly. He'll go kicking and screaming. But Bob ain't gonna live forever and HBO can't give him enough dates anyway. Sure, Bob has like 900 WBOgus titles, but he can't get enough dates for his fighters.

True! It was hopefull wishing that this new, young, and educated guy with tons of cash could sort of push out the other boxing en****** (you know, networks, promoters) out of the game, and create something like the UFC.

It was a long shot really, but back then you didn't really know.

Top Rank, Golden Boy, K2, Main Events, Roc Nation, etc all have to share the HBO pie, which is getting smaller and smaller and smaller. The smallest it's been in decades. When HBO pulls the plug, it's checkmate for Haymon.

Meanwhile, Showtime is more committed to the sport than ever and if Haymon is able to create enough leverage with FOX, he's got a real shot at getting CBS to put up serious money for PBC to become a traditional sports league shown exclusively on CBS/SPIKE/SHOWTIME.

Another factor though is that if UFC leaves FOX, FOX becomes desperate to prop up FS1 and PBC could land a big deal with FOX/FS1.

But no matter how things play out, there's no doubt Haymon will have more power than ever and TR/GB/etc will be in serious serious trouble. Look at what happened to Don King. One day you control the sport, the next day you're boxed out. Once you're boxed out, it's almost impossible to get back in.

A decade ago, Gary Shaw controlled pretty much all of the major Showtime dates. Now he's got nothing.

I really don't see how anybody is going to be able to stop Haymon. Golden Boy has one fighter. That's it. Once GGG destroys him, they've got nothing. Arum is hanging on by a thread and can't get Showtime to take him back. It's over folks. People just don't realize it yet because it's going to take a few years for everything to play out.
If HBO pulls the plug, do you really think Showtime is going to pass on some of the other promoter's fighters?

If CBS/Spike/Showtime (all same company) have signed an exclusive deal with PBC, other promoter's fighters will be boxed out. Which means . . . they'll all want to sign with PBC. Which means PBC will have become the UFC of boxing.

HBO is not going to disappear anytime soon. Not in your lifetime. Saying so is mere lunacy. Especially now that they still got GGG, Canelo, Lomachenko, Crawford. Stars that PBC is having a hard time duplicating. PBC is broke. Inactivity is rampant. Fans have no stories to follow. Now you see them, now you don't. Showtime is taking over. Haymon is only good in producing random fights.

HBO has bigger stars than PBC, but HBO can't afford to buy their fights! The budget is being slashed every year. Cotto, GGG, Ward, Canelo, Pacquiao, it's all PPV next year.

It's not PBC that is broke. It's HBO, at least in terms of their boxing budget.

You say Showtime is taking over, but every Showtime card is a PBC card! So wtf are you talking about?!?

I would hate it. We don't need anymore belts. We need to disband the WBO, IBO, IBU, and any other ****bag crap sanctioning body.

WBA and WBC belts should remain. Make the IBF belt like the USBA/NABF belt. Then go from there.

If PBC eventually becomes a traditional sports league and governs their own championship, it would actually result in there being fewer belts. Because once the WBA/WBC/IBF/WBO are boxed out of the US, there isn't enough revenue to keep all of them in business.

The best aren't fighting the best and somehow injecting more belts into the picture is supposed to be a good thing?
