Canelo is every bit as entitled to the mando spot as Khurtsidze.

Khurtsidze beat a prospect on short-notice and has just sat on the #1 spot since. Willie Monroe accepted a fight vs Khurtsidze in June, and Khurtsidze turned down the fight. A win right there would've cemented a mandatory shot at BJS, but Khurtsidze wanted to play it safe and has now gone all year without another fight. He's just like Jorge Heiland and Alfonso Blanco, these guys sat over a year at #1 w/o any serious fights b/c they wanted a payday w/o risk.

There should be way more boxing journalists calling BS on the sanctioning bodies corruptness and incompetence.

      Good article.

      More needed!

I'm more angry at his team for allowing him to become inactive. WTF is Dibella doing?

The WBC does the same. These sanctioning bodies if you have a name that they can collect sanctioning fees they will accommodate that particular fighter in order to get the fee.

When lesser fighters have to really fight their way up and wait around.

If he's listed 5' 4" then it's safe to say he's probably even shorter than that by 2-3 inches...What the HECK is a EBA Champion?? Extremely Below Average Height???

DiBella claimed he was trying to get Khurtsidze fights. But I think he was just trying to get him the 'right' fights. Like I said, they turned down a fight with Willie Monre for Showtime. It was the Provodnikov card, Monroe fought John Thompson instead.

Curtis Stevens would've accepted a fight with Khurtsidze in a heart beat. But I don't know how Roizer & Stark would've felt about it. Lou probably could've made Khurtsidze/Lee. Andy's willing to take a fight if it leads to a shot at Golovkin next.
