It is similar in nature but much smaller scale.

Mayweather fans became battled hardened through years of bull****, and so did Pacquiao fans really. It wasn't until both guys were proven and well into their careers that the groups actually started mixing it up, then it lasted for 5-6 years.

Also while both Golovkin and Canelo have haters, they had nothing on Mayweather haters who masqueraded as Manny fans. Manny has way more haters too for that matter.

It is like comparing the Spanish-American War to World War I the same concept totally different scale and level of ferocity.

As far as fan base wars, both were pretty much rated 1-2 in most peoples eyes P4P, combined with the years of the "build up", and I don't see anything coming close to the animosity and fuckery involved between two fighters and their "fans".

I was bumping Pac threads before his last fight an no one would bother to comment on them. They would rather argue about Canelo v GGG all day.

And, I do think a lot of Mayweather fans migrated to Ward. A lot of these same "fans" were clowning the guy when he was in litigation and not fighting.
Funny thing about Golovkin fans is that many of them were Canelo fans, and then felt they needed to pick a side, so they went with the bigger, undefeated guy. I laugh about it all because I am not caught up in that shyt. I'm not going to dislike a guy just because he's fighting someone I like. I still like Kovalev and Ward, Canelo and GGG, and I still like Pac more than May, but respect them both.
The pact@rdation died with floyds retirement. There just seems to be this sentiment around here that people who are fans of ggg are just bandwagon nuthuggers that moved from pac to ggg...but the part of the floyd fanbase who are now supporting ward are some type of boxing aficionados who were fans of ward all along.

I began lurking on here on and off in 2013, and made an account I forgot about in 2015. I started posting in earnest this year or so, so I haven't really been around that long. So my question is directed at the older forum members and it is this; are the current crop of GGG and Canelo fan bases comparable to the Pac and May fan bases? I mean, they seem equally poised as compared to how overwhelmingly reviled Floyd was and still is, but is the constant mud slinging comparable? Has the support become fanatical yet?

I'm asking as somebody who not a fan of either boxer, and would genuinely be neutral if the fight ever happened.

EDIT: Also, just to clarify, I meant I don't like either GGG or Canelo, not May or Pac. Unashamedly a fan of Floyd, and like Pac as a boxer.

            No, not really close.

And this you could answer yourself by digging through old threads. If you've been lurking for a few years you would know that. I smell a troll.

As far as them facing the same criticisms, yea, it's uncanny. Reveals a lot of ignorance on the part of their detractors.

              Definitely not.

I was one of Floyd's biggest fans on here and I was a fan of both Floyd and Golovkin well before Floyd retired. I've also never been a fan of Ward though I don't dislike him either.

Really ****** to see people try and draw that correlation, there is no evidence behind it.

Anyone who has paid any attention and wants to be honest about it can draw correlations between the fanbases, as far as this forum is concerned. That doesn't mean that it includes every individual here, but to deny that a lot of Pac fans became GG fans and May fans started supporting Ward is just foolish. Would you say more GG fans used to be May fans or Pac fans?
                Make sense now?

the only difference between fraud and pac fans is... pac fans are real boxing fan while fraud jr's fans are either an idiot or ******ed!

that the only difference between the two.
